Examines the practice and development of medicine within the armed forces from the late 19th century through the end of WWII. Spanning the laboratory and the battlefield, material provides insight into different national styles and priorities. Examines the relationship between medical personnel and the armed forces as a whole, looking at areas such as disease prevention, treatment of psychiatric casualties, and development of medical science.
