Excerpt from Pasteurizing Milk in Bottles and Bottling Hot Milk Pasteurized in Bulk It has been claimed that remarkable bacterial reductions have been obtained by pasteurization 111 bottles which were far superior to those obtained by other methods even when the Same temperature and holding period were used. In order to determine what reductions could be obtained, 34 samples Of milk were pasteurized ln bettles. The results are seen in Table 1. The bottles for samples Nos. 2 to 23, inclusive, were washed clean in hot water, but not steamed, 'before' they were filled with raw milk.
