Finishing this series feels like a breakup

This has been by far my most favorite book journey. I am so sad that it’s over.

there are debts yet to be paid TO ME

Still thinking about these characters almost a year later

I wish I could give it more!
Absolutely amazing! I couldn’t breathe!

I have no words! This series was amazing! I will be thinking about this last book for sometime to come. Just epic!

MY FAMILY IS GONE WHAT DO I DO NOW

i am not weeeEEEeellLLLlll

i have no words. this series means the world to me. these are all my friends, and i experienced everything hard and terrible and beautiful and funny and pure a book had to offer. i’m feeling so emotional right now because now, i’m living in the part of my life that’s “After TOG” and i wasn’t ready for that yet. i have so many more things i wanna read about them, and things i wanna see with them. i can’t believe it’s over. forever. im so shattered and thrilled. i love them all so much. they’re my friends.

this book was a journey. just like reading this book series was. sometimes good, sometimes bad and then sometimes extremely bad. when you're going into a sarah j. maas book, you're not expecting to find high literature, so i'm not saying it was bad because it did not compare to, let's say the lord of the rings. it's not the same literary genre, i know, but i think everyone understands what i mean.
the good: i liked that yrene was the one that killed erowan, good choice. manon and dorian will forever be the two characters that least annoyed me, lol. also nice choice to not make dorian and aelin to be forever so powerful.
the bad: i think to me, at one point, there were too many characters. i love/hate cliffhangers like any other person and i really like how it's done in 'the raven cycle' for example, however here the cuts sometimes were so out of the blue to me. i understood those cuts as a tool to create suspense and keep on reading, but it also left me annoyed more often than not, especially since at the beginning of the book there were so many lines of action.
the extremely bad: okay, full disclosure this could be more of a 'me thing' than a general thing wrong with the book. it all started at the end of empire of storms when we find out at the end of the book what aelin's plan was.
two things here as a note: i'm aware that aelin had to rely on herself all throughout her teenage years, as a result not being used to turn to others.
obviously, this was her last resort plan and she could not have foreseen that there would be this huge of a breakout of war, that's not what i'm trying to say.
what i definitely do want to say though is, that i think that aedion did have a point to be angry at aelin and lysandra in the first quarter of this book. let's not forget that he was supposed to sleep with his cousin to create heirs that have the same ashryver eyes. in my opinion that's a very valid reason to be mad at someone. the way he handled speaking and treating lysandra afterwards was ass, though. what an asshole.
end note, no conclusion: i think it's funny that sarah j. maas wrote a book about the genocide of a people and how colonisation and an occupying force is bad, just to have made her birthright trip to israel. i really have to fucking laugh. (this stems from an article in 2016, she gave no indication that her views have changed: https://www.thejc.com/life-and-culture/books/tellers-of-teenage-tales-rkak36jr )

4.5/5⭐️ • 2/5🌶️
So if you ever want to read this series just know it’s an investment. It pays off but you need to be incredibly patient to get through it all. The beginning of the book really took off and I was loving it. But by the time I got halfway through the exhaustion started setting it. Mentally and physically. It felt like the progression of the story wasn’t happening but that’s because there are so many people it’s covering. But the last 200 pages was like the second wind I needed and I was stressed to know how it would end because SJM is unpredictable. I’m overall glad to have read the series and would recommend it if you are ready for the investment.

Kingdom of Ash was the most enthralling, complex and wonderful ending to an incredibly compelling series. The series was slow at times but this story is incredible and SJM’s world-building was unmatched. I will miss this series and think about it daily.

i literally don’t have words to describe what i’m feeling right now

Will never recover

I cannot remember the last time that i cried so much while reading a book.
This book has left me with a sad (but also happy) calm and catharsis.
The conclusion and the way everything has connected made me bawl my eyes out.
I probably have to say that this book has finished me, not the other way around.

The perfect conclusion to the series! Lot of buildup, suspense, and most of it paid off and was explained! A satisfying and epic ending for sure.

Welp, I finally did it. I love this series and would recommend it to anyone.

Really really a great conclusion to the series. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is because there was no epilogue into the future. I will definitely miss these characters so much!

I’m am so sad this series is over 💔💔💔

What an ending!! I didn’t think I would like this series since I’m more of a romance lover but definitely enjoyed the ride this series took me on! I’ve read her court of throne and roses series. Looking forward to read crescent city series.

Wonderful culmination of an incredible series. My only complaint was there were soooooo many characters that I would lose track of their storyline.

Really dont know what to rate this, only thing I know is that I finished this at 1 AM and did not want it to be over

I have no words to describe how I feel at the moment...

Lorcan sent a flicker of his power to wrap around her ankle. The limo vanished.
A hand in the knob, she gave him a small, grateful nod. "I missed that." He heard the unspoken words as she disappeared into the busy hall. I missed you.
Lorcan allowed himself a rare smile.
My favourite couple for real.

“So Lorcan did.”
Screaming

"Fire heart," The words were a gentle brush down her cheek. "Fireheart, why do you cry?"
And from far away, deep within her, Aelin whispered toward that ray of memory, "Because I am lost. And I do not know the way."
Evalin Ashryver ran gentle fingers down Aelin’s cheek. Over the mask.
Aelin could have sworn she felt them against her skin.
"You have been very brave," her mother said. "You have been very brave, for so very long. But you must be brave a little while longer, my Fireheart."
She leaned into her mother’s touch.
"You must be brave a little while longer, and remember …" Her mother placed a phantom hand over Aelin’s heart. "It is the strength of this that matters. No matter where you are, no matter how far, this will lead you home."
"You do not yield."

“But this new, fragile thing humming between them… he would not risk it for all the world.”
Lorcan and Elide my OTP <3

“His name on her lips had been a summons he could never deny, even when death had held him so gently, nestled beneath all those he'd felled, and waited for his last breaths”.
beautiful

“I know you are tired, Fireheart.”

“But it was the demon, not the man, who killed your healer. Dorian clenched his jaw. "It makes no difference. "Doesn't it?" Manon frowned.

We are the Thirteen,” she said. “From now until the Darkness claims us.

“Be the bridge, be the light. When iron melts, when flowers spring from fields of blood—let the land be witness, and return home."

Queen of Kings - alessandra reminds me of Aelin and Manon 🙏

You do not yield.
