Code Name Sentinel

As a former member of the United States Secret Service, Cruce Britton is no stranger to putting his life on the line in the name of duty. Having left the nation’s capital to re-settle in Pittsburgh, the skills he acquired during his tenure in Washington have now made him a valued member of the team at Jameson Force Security. But when the President comes seeking a favor, Cruce finds himself on the fast track back to the Oval Office.Simply put... she’s beyond brilliant. A nationally renowned energy scientist, Barrett Alexander is on the verge of a breakthrough that will change the world. Unfortunately, that has also made her the target of a suspected terrorist cell. And while Barrett doesn’t believe she’s in any real danger, her uncle (who just happens to be the President) isn’t willing to take chances with his niece’s life.As the threats against Barrett become more calculated, Cruce decides taking her on the run is her best chance of survival. Danger, isolation and attraction ensure the two grow closer than they had ever thought possible. When Cruce realizes he wants to keep her safe for reasons that have nothing to do with his job and everything to do with the woman he’s fallen in love with, no one is safe from the hell he’ll rain down on those that threaten her.

As the first book in a new series, it definitely starts out with a bang! We are tossed in the middle of a story in a way. Joslyn is being stalked and needs help. It's been going on for way too long and there was a close call, the stalker actually getting into her house. She has a history with Kynan, but trusts him with her life, because he's good at what he does. Joslyn is a world famous singer and actress and enjoys what she does, but has started thinking about if there is more to life. She is grateful for everything, but it gets pretty lonely. Especially with the stalker getting too close. I really enjoyed Joslyn's character. She is strong and even though the stalker is after her, she tries to do what she needs to do. Not let anyone back her in the corner. Kynan is really a typical alpha male. If he thinks something belongs to him, don't even try to get it. He knows what he's doing when it comes to protecting someone and starting his business, things have gotten interesting. Kynan is a good man though, because he puts aside his history with Joslyn to protect her. They may have ended things on bad terms, but no one deserves to be threatened. Even though he's quite the alpha, he has a soft side as well and I think those were my favorite moments in the book. Kynan being sweet and sensitive. It's clear from the start that the history between Kynan and Joslyn hasn't been processed. Both of them still have a lot of feelings and that shows in their interactions with each other. I felt their connection though and realizing that in the end it wasn't what it seemed definitely made this story interesting. I love a good second chance romance, but at certain moments it took over the whole suspense aspect. I get that when you're scared your emotions are heightened, but I would've liked to have seen it go just a bit slower. There are many steamy moments in this story and the first one didn't sit well with me, if you've read the story you might understand why. It seemed a bit forceful and seeing the situation didn't seem appropriate to me. I loved the other steamy moments with them when things start to settle a bit more. They really care for each other and I loved watching them find their way back to what they had. On top of all the steamy moments, there are a lot of twists and turns. I loved how we followed the investigation and seeing everything play out. The other characters in the story involved in the investigation were a lot of fun and really interesting. I definitely hope they all get books! I need to know more. If you're looking for a fastpaced book with a lot of action and some romance, definitely pick up Code Name: Genesis. It keeps you on your feet and can make you smile. Not many books can do that! I will impatiently await the next book in this series!
