Eren

Eren

'Tell the story to its end,' says Eren with a grin. His yellow eyes are glowing like embers in the night. 'When I reach the end,' I say, 'what happens? You'll have the whole story.' 'Hmm,' he says, looking at me and licking his lips with a dry, grey tongue. 'What happens then? Why don't we find out?' People are keeping secrets from Oli. His mum has brought him to stay with his aunt and uncle in the countryside, but nobody will tell him why his dad isn't with them. Where is he? Has something happened? Oli has a hundred questions, but then he finds a secret of his own: he discovers the creature that lives in the attic. Eren. Eren is not human. Eren is hungry for stories. Eren has been waiting for him. Sharing his stories with Eren, Oli starts to make sense of what's happening downstairs with his family. But what if it's a trap? Soon, Oli must make a choice: learn the truth - or abandon himself to Eren's world, forever.

NO!. ... y también realmente aterradores "I can wait" "How long?" "Till the end. What did you think? Twitter || Blog || Pinterest || Tumblr || Instagram

I really enjoyed this read. Poetic, unique and intriguing - the story really captured my heart. It reminds me a lot of A Monster Calls. I wasn't a 100% engaged in the story all the time but there were too many things I loved about the read as a whole that I just cannot ignore. The format is really interesting, for me. There are little snippets at the beginning of each chapter that was a huge page-turner factor. It gave a little extra that wrapped up things really wonderfully. And I absolutely adored the stories that are told within - they really had me excited to read through; so yes, LOVE. The writing - I loved. The descriptions are DIVINE you can almost taste it. And I don't know if this is vain in any way or whatever but I feel like the writing is somewhat the same as what I write like. Some parts the normal storytelling style, other parts poetic and whimsical string of words. So beautiful, I loved it. Here's a snippet: "White eyes in the night. Black eyes in the day. A quiver in the shadows, a haunting in the woods. Flames in the sky, cracks in the moon." Please tell me: how does that not make you want to go straight into this?? A few things that did mot make me LOVE LOVE this book would be the dialogues. I mean, I love them, I do - but they're not the most realistic things for people to say. Would have maybe worked for characters of older ages, probably. And a little more backstory would have really been a cherry on top of a great read. I definitely recommend this to lover of words. To writers and aspiring writers who practically live for good stories and devour them like I devoured this book (it took me a while to finish I know but every time I picked it up I was like YEAH I WANT MORE so). To people who search for something whimsical and dark and absolutely beautiful. Go for Eren.
