Creepy, disturbing, yet it broke my reading slump.

Not sure what I was expecting from this, but it definitely wasn’t that! Super great, and the art style is gorgeous. Definitely not for minors, though.

A twisted, dark and creepy adult fairytale retelling of Snow White, from none other than Neil Gaiman, featuring fantastical, dark, and often beautiful art. This is a must read.

First of all, helLO beautiful art. Massive massive kudos to the artist because everything was just beautiful and I absolutely love how some panels managed to be one cohesive unit while still showing separate scenes. In terms of content, I'm usually very picky about my fairytale retellings, but this one is absolutely worth it. It doesn't detract from the original while still adding plenty of its own twists and turns.

I had forgotten how delightfully dark and horrifying this retelling of Snow White is. Told from the perspective of the "wicked" stepmother, the story looks at exactly why someone would have snow white skin and blood read lips... It's a tense and uncomfortable read, unafraid to push past even the horror of original fairy tales. A fantastic, though horrific read.

So disturbing, but so good. I love Neil Gaiman. And I’ve loved almost everything I’ve read by him. Even the books of his that I didn’t adore still made an impact on the way I think and have burrowed into my brain. And every one of them seems intent on staying within the homes they’ve carved into my gray matter. Snow, Glass, Apples is no exception. Whenever I think of Snow White from now on, his rendition is the one that will flash through my mind. Sorry, Disney. I’m not sure I can ever watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarves again without an eye twitch. I’ve always been intrigued by the physical description of Snow White. You know, the whole “skin white as snow, lips red as blood, hair black as ebony” thing. (view spoiler)[Doesn’t that sound more like a vampire to you than a fair princess? It always has to me. (hide spoiler)] So, I loved Gaiman’s take. And it still managed to surprise me. I know Halloween has passed, but if you get the urge to read something short and creepy, I recommend this story.

By God, this guy is amazing. Seriously now, if you're into story rettelings (and you don't mind some gore, i guess) this book is the book for you. Neil Gaiman. The author, the story, the effin legend. Sweet Chocolate In the Sky how I love his books. 'Snow, Glass, Apples' is a Snow White retelling from the 'Evil' Queen's point of view. It portraits cute little Snow White as an unholy, bloodsucking monster. Oh yeah, and the prince is a pedophilic necrophile. I'm honestly impressed. Neil Gaiman really managed to find an explanation as of why the f the prince ducked that cadaver, a plausible one, no less. The story is just so dark, bloody and beautifully gory... *sights* I really wish my life wasn't this boring so I wouldn't spend my nights readjng instead of like, sleeping like any normal person. But you know what? Normal is boring and I believe that's exactly what this author, this writer, this wordsmith, had in mine while writing.

If you decide to give this a try, definitely read the version illustrated by Colleen Doran for the fantastic Harry Clarkesque art. Out of Gaiman's retellings, however, this isn't the best one.

OMG!!! The art in here is so gorgeous it is entracing and beautiful and drew me into the story! The storyline is also very interesting as it flips the classic Snow White fairytale on its head and makes the Evil Queen not so evil and Snow White the monster instead. This is graphic in some parts as well as there are some sexual scenes so be aware of that as it is more adult. I just loved taking my time with this one though and enjoying all the art as I read through this story!!

That was creepy as fuck. A good story to say goodbye to September and welcome October, which is nearly here. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves retellings, especially creepy and maybe even scary ones. Also I'm a little bit surprised it's Neal Gaiman, but in a good way. I don't connect to his usual novels, but his horror stories are wonderful.

Leave it to Neil Gaiman to take such a well-known fairytale and completely change it in such a chilling and eerie way. Everything about it was so interesting and the artwork is absolutely beautiful.

Please be fully aware that this is NOT a childrens book. I actually bought this for a friend, but I wanted to take a look a the illustration and I was sucked in, so I sat on the floor and read it! What can I say about this without giving things away...pretty much nothing...but its fair to say that I will never look at the Snow White story in same way again, and I have even more feeling for the 'Wicked Queen' than even Once Upon a Time gave me! If you are a graphic novel/fairy tale/Neil Gaiman fan, just read it!

I loved the illustrations, it reminded me of the artist Audrey Beardsley and I appreciated the dark take on who Snow White actually was but, the story fell flat.

This is a dark re-telling and not the view we all know Snow White to be. I highly enjoyed this re-telling and recommend it to Snow White fans. The artwork is beautiful!
