Someone Like Me
Reviews

3 1/2 stars, probably. Review to come. When I started this book, I thought "This reads like a Stephen King novel." Then I read a little further: "Oh, not quite like Stephen King. It's getting more interesting." (NOT a drag against SK, btw. His stuff also gets more interesting as it goes, usually, but in a different way from this.") A little further: "Hrm. SF or fantasy??? Something weird going on." Later: "Holy carp, CREEPY CREEPY VILLAIN." Still later: "OMG KIDS IN DANGER. #muppetflail " Later: "Not sure it would all actually end like that, but ok, whatever. It's an ending." So: M.R. Carey is a good writer, generates good suspense. I didn't like this as well as some other books of his, because a) children in danger and b) what seemed to me like a hand-wavey ending. The narrator was fine.

Really cool and kind of messed up. I am enjoying his "horror" run as MR Carey. I think it's a blast and am looking forward to where he goes next.
