This book was amazing! It had many amazing, heartfelt, and loving moments.

Pros- It really brought out what real life was like, it didn't make you think "Oh this is nothing like real life!" It made you feel bad for Lucky and Jack! (Yes I call her Lucky still) It also had very good settings, mood, and really what a book needs. This is a great read really.

Cons- There were only a little bit of negatives in this book. I hate the way that it moved so fast. Like a girl wouldn't automatically want to kiss a boy. 

Overall- A great book! Must read and that's really all! :)))

i can never go wrong with any maurene goo book. i loved this so!!!! much!!!!!!! i was in a huge reading slump but i binged this in a few hours and had so many feelings UGH. it’s as wonderful as one would imagine the pitch: a modern roman holiday (one of my fave movies btw) ft kpop and lots of food.

So much fun

Like a wild romantic day in Hong Kong- somewhere only we know is fun and thoroughly entertaining. A quick read with believable characters and relatable situations, as fantastical as their places in life may seem. Pop stars- they’re just like us!

Words cannot quite explain this book. There was lots of art, music, love, and discovering the truth about others and oneself. The ending was spectacular; it was all about new beginnings. Wonderful!

a friend of mine recommended 'somewhere only we know' to me. she described it as a "roman holiday modern day story set in hong kong", which is incredibly on brand; roman holiday is my favourite film of all time, and i grew up in hong kong. 

i approached this book with some hesitation; after all, the comfort that i found in both, roman holiday, and my home, was something that i didn't want to be tainted. but i didn't need to worry. somewhere only we know is charming and witty and sweet and everything i love about hong kong and roman holiday wrapped into a novel. i loved how each chapter alternated between the perspectives of lucky and jack, and even more so, i loved how it talked about race/ethnicity, feelings of belonging/home, anxiety, the complex dynamic between immigrant parents and their children, and so many more important topics. this was the first book of goo's that i've read, and i absolutely loved it. 

and as much as i loved the way it ended, i'm hoping for a sequel or something -- i want to know what happens with jack and lucky; their careers, their family, their dynamics... everything!

I really loved this book. I thought his book had some of my favorite troups like romance with star, love to hate romance and some much self-discovery. I also really enjoyed the focus on the K pop world. I did not know much about this world but I found it super fast pace read. I really did like the duel POV and was super invested in both leads. I also liked how both main characters had some self-divsovery storylines. I enjoyed this read alot and found it to such a fast pace read that I flew though. I def need to read more by this author in the future!

I'm starting over completely, no prior credits count towards my current degree. This is a book that truly spoke to me and ignited something in me. I'm hoping the passion these two feel for their craft will continue on in me and help me get to where I have finally figured out I want to be.

I don’t know why it took me so long to finish this book. Sometimes I’ll read a book and enjoy it but then, all of a sudden, I’ll get out of a certain mood and stop reading. That’s exactly what happened while I was reading this book. Once I got back into this book though, I couldn’t stop reading it!

It is a love story set in Hong Kong which is a very unique and exciting setting. It made me want to visit all the tourist and food places that they mentioned. I also loved the main characters who had dreams, but were still unsure about their futures which I relate a lot to after recently graduating college. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Kdramas, witty banter romantic relationships, and whimsical traveling involving delicious food.
