This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review. Snow is the second book in the Underworld Series and this is the MMA fighter romance so I had really high hopes for this one. This was another quick read, but I really liked the gritty mafia world that Sophie Lark is building with this series. This one really shows the dark side of the mafia world and it has one of my favorite trope “forbidden” I really love the dynamic of an MMA fighter and a doctor pairing and I really felt like the author handles this type of dynamic so well. I was really intrigued by the setup here. First, we have Snow, who has been training to be an MMA fighter, he fights in the underworld of the MMA but he dreams of going to America to fight in legitimate matches. He is working a tournament and if he wins, he will have enough in his savings to leave Russia and fulfill his dream, And then we have our heroine, who has finished school and is now a doctor, but when she comes home she learns her father is in great debt to a mafia warlord, and she offers her medical services to save her family. Snow and Sasha meet at the matches, but there is a taste of forbidden because the mafia king can’t find out she is in a relationship with Snow, or they both risk being killed. “Yes, I want romance!” she says, unashamed. “I want passion and love and connection. I want ambition and goals, too. I want struggle and experience. Failure, then success. I want it all, every last drop of it. I don’t want to live and die for nothing.” I really enjoyed seeing how this romance developed and the side characters that we are introduced to just charmed me. My heart was saddened by what happened to one of the fighters because I really fell in love with him (like every time I think about it my heart breaks) but I definitely see why the author had this happen as it needed to build the intensity and dramatic effect for what Snow needed to do to win and it really built the conflict and forbidden feel to the story. I absolutely loved the characters, they both have wills of iron, and they have an instant connection that they act on and I really admired that so deeply. We do get an entrance of Ivan and Sloane (first book) and I really liked that even if it was a short moment. I really felt for both characters though, their development is penned so well and I wanted for them to reach their HEA so much. There is such a fierce level of determination and grit from them both in overcoming their obstacles. They definitely won my heart easily and eager to see what more this series brings. Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting. Trigger Warnings: (view spoiler)[Addiction, Sexual Assault, Murder (hide spoiler)]

4.5 ★ this one took me a minute to get into, but i ended up LOVING it! Snow is a boxer in an underground fighting ring. Sasha is the young doctor working for the men her family owes a debt to. She never intended to get mixed up with this lifestyle, but she sacrificed the life she wanted in an attempt to keep her family safe. Sasha and Snow have an instant connection, despite the fact that they come from extremely different backgrounds and really couldn’t be more different. But there is a kinship between them that only the two can understand. Snow feels an unfamiliar fondness and protectiveness for Sasha that he can’t seem to understand. Sasha seems to see right to the heart of Snow and can’t help but be drawn to him. While Snow tries to make his way to the final rounds of a huge boxing tournament, Sasha is constantly being tested in her new job as a doctor for men who know no moral boundaries. Snow is determined to free her from the debts she’s trying to pay off. But in true Sophie Lark form, Sasha is the furthest thing from helpless. While I love the fierce protectiveness Snow feels for Sasha, I also love that she’s so self sufficient and has no trouble stepping in and taking matters into her own hands (despite living a very sheltered life up until this point). i felt like the bond between Snow and Sasha was so sweet but also so strong from the very beginning. They each saw each other for who they really were and loved the things about each other that no one else even bothered to notice. I’m so excited to see the role that Snow will play in the Bully!

This story was very endearing it gave me all the feels. This is about Snow, an orphan turned back boxer & Sasha freshly out of med school now working for a criminal who runs the city bc her father owes a debt. Of course you can see clear as day that these two don’t belong together. But they fit seamlessly all the same. They’re both essentially working for Kaplin but he can’t know bc it would put Sasha & her family in danger. This was raw, gritty, sweet, funny, suspenseful, a bit sad but it warmed my heart being able to see the ice that was Snows heart melt for Sasha. She changed as well from the timid sheltered little girl to a strong & resilient doctor. Sophie is definitely in her bag when it comes to writing strong heroines. The relationship between him & Sasha was so intense, alluring & I was sucked into it. I only hope to find something as intense as that. They fought their battles the best way I could have hoped for, I think this is the funniest book I’ve read so far. I was obsessed with the banter between Snow & his team, it was legitimately so funny. I loved their tight knit family. I was so so so happy with how this story ended for them. I’m obsessed with how obsessed Snow & Sasha are with each other.

4.5 stars. Continuing my Kingmakers detour with Snow (aka Dean’s mentor in The Bully). I feel like I’m starting to get a stronger sense of the power dynamics between Bratva bosses in this series, which I think will be helpful as I continue on in Kingmakers. Moving right along. We stan Snow. He’s the epitome of a “big wife guy” and he and Sasha aren’t even married. He’s obsessed with her in a very adorable way, wanting to act as her protector but also recognizing that she has her own hopes and dreams and can take care of herself. Their connection is raw and powerful, both being able to see through the others defenses and into their real selves. Snow is a champion underground boxer, and Sasha has positioned herself as a Bratva bosses on-call doctor to ease the debt owed by her father. The pair have to sneak around, which IMO added an extra sexy dash of excitement to their encounters. I wasn’t expecting to get so attached to some of the side characters, but whew this one got me. I really loved this overall, and I’m literally CHOMPING AT THE BIT to dive into Dean’s story and see how this all plays out.

A little ~too~ predictable for my taste, but I still enjoyed the read. The best part of this book is how it sets up or intertwines with the other books in Underworld and Kingmakers.
