SO GOOD! Already put the second one on hold at the library!

Spill Zone is a strong introduction to a new SF world by Westerfield. There was an... accident that changed Addison's city drastically. Everyone was evacuated and strange things live in the spill zone now. Addison keeps sneaking into the city to take pictures so that she can earn money to take care of her little sister. Until one day she gets an incredible offer that she can't refuse... Westerfeld's latest takes readers to a haunting city filled with... things certainly worse than ghosts. No one seems to know what's going on, but the way things have changed is certainly outside the realm of normal. It feels different enough from other mysterious disaster stories that I felt quite sucked in, and there were enough mysteries set up to keep the series going for a while. Time will tell if Westerfeld can keep this story as unnerving, but enthralling as the first volume, but this is definitely a good start!

Pleasantly surprised by the macabre elements and the art style fit the story really well!

The kids that like creepy scary books are going to love this one. Great art work and the colorist is excellent. My main complaint is the same as that for the secret coder GNs - it ends on a cliffhanger but before we've had any kind of a completion of a self contained story. This is very annoying - especially for kids and particularly because the time lag between books in the GN world is so long. Review based on a review copy given by Net Galley.

The art is so gorgeous and the story is really really cool and interesting and totally dark. I definitely didn’t get enough though and I need to know what happens next!!!

Fair story line and decent art.

Bumping down to a 4 on reread. I still really enjoyed it, but not really qualifying for a 5 stars.

Well that was kind of awesome. And now I need part 2 immediately.
