First Impressions
Kiss An Angel is a standalone romantic comedy by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This is a classic style of a romantic comedy and I had such a blast with this one. I am falling in love with this style of Phillips and how she crafts a romance. Kiss An Angel was recommended to me as I am such a strong fan of the arranged marriage trope so I went into this one with so much excitement. And It was worth it for sure. This book held my heart very early on. It does have some elements in the content of the story that may prove to be challenging for some readers, but I fell so hard for this book and especially the romance that is built within this one here. I really was hooked into Kiss An Angel and was completely different than I expected it to be but it delivered fully and had me laughing so hard all the way through it.

What I Loved
So many things I adored about this book here. Kiss An Angel is a riot of angst and chemistry and delicious humor that just pulls you more and more into the story. I absolutely adored both of these characters. They are the true epitome of grumpy sunshine. And the circus setting was so fascinating. Especially in the viewpoint from the mid 90’s, this was definitely a different time and it had so many nostalgic vibes and this is why I don’t mind reading older contemporaries because it has a view of a time that is so different and refreshing from today. I really enjoyed the way in which these two banter with each other. They have such different expectations and outlooks on life so seeing them find ways to become compatible was entertaining. We also have the conflicts that rise within this story. It was so heartwrenching to see what this heroine has to go through at times. But we see her journey in finding herself and seeing what she is capable of accomplishing. On the surface, she seems flighty, but she has this will of iron, and seeing that be tested was perfection. I loved what we saw her overcome. What I also admired was how she took her vows so seriously and how she views sex was so refreshing from what we see in so many contemporaries these days. And the way in which she is willing to fight for her marriage is inspiring. Then we have our delectable hero, who is hard as stone. He has suffered abuse as a kid, which has shaped him in the hard-hearted man that he is. He cares for others, but it doesn’t always show. We see how slowly Daisy’s personality and courage wins him over and how he has to face up to the demons of his past and find his own will to open himself up to love.
What I Struggled With
The third act in this book was really tough to swallow. I had a rough time with how the grovel scene was handled. I felt like there should have been more forgiveness portrayed and not stretching out the grovel, as it didn’t need to be stretched out like it was and turned me off a bit. As long as there is change and sincerity in the grovel, it never needs to be stretched out to these proportions.
Narration
Anna Fields portrays this author’s books perfectly! She really brings out the humor just right and also just handles the vibe and tone of the story just right and delivers the classic feel of the story.

Favorite Quote(s)
Don’t dare a person who has nothing else left to lose.”
There was a sweetness about her that was as unexpected as it was disturbing because it made her so much more vulnerable than he wanted her to be.
We can do this easy, or we can do it rough. Either way, I’m going to win. You decide how it’ll be.
But I don’t love you, Daisy, and you can’t begin to know how sorry I am about that because if I could chose anyone in this world to love, it’d be you.
“I don’t love you anymore,Alex.”
“It’s alright sweetheart.I love you enough for the both of us.”
“I love you, Daisy. I love you so much I hurt.”

HAVE TO REREAD… I mean it I LOVED THE BOOK not gonna lie I hated Alex at the start…but it’s ok, normal I LOVE ITTTTTT

My favorite romance book

“I don’t love you anymore. I don’t love you at all.” “It’s all right. I love you enough for both of us.” just all-around a perfect book

the character development 👏.

Very sweet, I didn’t think I’d like it but once I got deep into it, I couldn’t put it down!

This was the stupidest shit ive ever read

I read this book 7 years ago and i re-read it every year and every year gives me the sparkles of the first time. If you want romance, pure and hard... and also see the world with a new sight, give this book a try, you wont regret!! with love, kissy

yall the groveling was not enough so im giving it 2.5 stars HSKAHSKWHW jk but honestly alex is a dick for the most part of the book. could tolerate him only in the last 15% 2.5

I enjoyed this book SO much. It was well-paced, which kept me engaged. Also the fact that the words bridegroom and beefcake appear in close proximity to each other (I can’t remember if it’s the same paragraph or same sentence) got me hooked. Honestly, I couldn’t tell and still don’t know exactly which decade housed the story and characters...but in a totally charming and kinda timeless way. For fans of romance, I strongly recommend.

Amo este libro!

4 stars 🌟 This book was so damn cute! I'm really not a fan of contemporaries, but this was different enough to grasp my attention. Loved Alex's hardness to Daisy's softness. I only wish we got a bit more deep into Daisy's mother and character development, as it felt a bit shallow. Still, this was cute and different and made me laugh more times than I can count!

I have been reading a lot of "cheesy" romance lately and this book by far has been one of the better ones. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. It was borderline 4 stars, but I find it difficult to give formulaic books 4 stars. But the writing was good, the story was decent, and I enjoyed the characters. The fact that I didn't have to invent a drinking game to get through it (cough, cough 50 Shades....I am looking at you) makes it that much better.

Also posted at Booklovers For Life This book is slightly old, but it’s so. freaking. GOOD. I fell so hard for the characters, their love, and their story. It’s a book about finding love, and finding love in the last person you’d ever expect to find love in. It’s a book about setting aside one’s pride to have a chance at happiness. Oh my goodness, this book is just divine. It’s got a heroine who learns and grows and toughens up, but still has a heart of gold. It’s got a domineering, alpha-male hero who’s a total jerk but you love him anyway (especially when you see his soft side starting to show). And there’s a circus! With animals! Daisy Devreaux and Alex Markov are arranged to be married. They’re total strangers, but Daisy’s father has arranged their marriage anyway because Daisy has no money, and Alex owes her father a favor. And so they have to marry, at least for six months. The beginning of the book starts off with Daisy and Alex at the altar, and Daisy… has completely forgotten her groom’s name, and can’t even finish her vows. That right then made me laugh and fall in love with Daisy. And the book continues to be humorous and light-hearted. Daisy and Alex are both in a situation they don’t want, and while Daisy, being the old-fashioned girl that she is, wants to make the best of their marriage, despite them not even liking each other. But Alex is mean and cold-hearted and certainly doesn’t care about what Daisy wants. I wanted to hate him, but I never did. Alex was a jerk to Daisy, but he was honest and yeah, okay, sexy as hell too. ;) Alex mostly was a jerk to Daisy because he wanted to scare her off and make her leave their marriage, but Daisy never does. She’s dumped into a marriage she doesn’t want, forced to work in the circus with Alex, but she’s a fighter and won’t give up so easily. Alex starts to be impressed with Daisy, but of course, he won’t show it. He works her hard, but she works even harder, and she falls in love with the animals in the circus. And slowly, she starts to fall for Alex too. But Alex has a painful past, and he doesn’t believe in love for himself. He truly believes that he doesn’t have the capacity for love, but Daisy has set her mind on making him believe he can love, and love her. I actually came across this book on the Heroes and Heartbreakers website when I read this post about favorite phrases that come from romances, and Kiss an Angel was one of the featured books. Alex, being the über-alpha that he is, is prideful and slightly arrogant (in the sexiest possible way, mind you). He’s never had to bow down and beg for anything or anyone, and he’s not about to start anytime soon. But being with Daisy, growing to care for her, has made him open his eyes, and heart, just a little. And then, when Alex makes the biggest mistake of his life, and hurts Daisy in the process, things change for him. I cried like a baby at this part. Alex fucks up, he loses the best thing that’s ever happened to him, but he makes amends. He knows he made a mistake and he tries his hardest to fix what he did. And he has to forget about his pride, because it’s holding him back. Even with the humor and adorable animals in Kiss an Angel, it’s a heartfelt, poignant book about transformation, and how love can heal and mend even the most broken of souls. “I’m begging you” is such defining phrase for Alex and Daisy. It’s Daisy’s go-to phrase, something she says lightly, but it’s a phrase that Alex can’t even imagine uttering before he meets Daisy. And you absolutely must read this book to see how Alex and Daisy have helped and changed each other in so many ways. Their love story is beautiful. This love story is truly an unforgettable one. I laughed and cried and laughed some more, and it was just a roller coaster of emotions. 5+ stars! One of my favorite books of all time! Liked this review?
