No ratings for memoirs/nonfiction. I did not know that trees communicated this way?? And what a beautiful way to share the story of that and intertwine it with the events happening in the author's life. Highly, highly recommend.

Too much memoir for my taste. I haven’t watched her TED talk, but my guess is that it’s at least as informative as this book and much shorter.

The true story that likely inspired the academic character in The Overstory. This forest researcher - from a lumberjacking family! - first posited then proved that trees “talk” to and support each other. Her work helped bring about policy changes addressing some of the (many) problems with clear-cutting and “managed” single-species forests. This highly personal book covers her life’s work from summer jobs to founder of the Mother Tree Project, also revealing the high price she has paid w/r/t her marriage and health. Highly recommended!

This is a very atmospheric book, where you are taken on a journey through woods, to look more closely at trees, and how they grow. 

Suzanne Simard also shares with us how it was as a woman in this field, especially a woman who had ideas that most others thought were ridiculous.  There is scientific information, and you are guided through what this means and why.

I enjoyed this autobiographical story of Suzanne Simard's discoveries, and what they meant, and the effect all of this had on her personal life.  

 Finding the Mother Tree  was published on 4th May 2021 and is available from  Amazon ,  Waterstones  and  Bookshop.org .
