The Fix
Reviews

The Fix is the first book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart and is a four star read. This is the author’s debut novel and what a debut it is! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the authors writing style and her storylines are really great, they flow nicely and dialogue is smooth and realistic. The combination of humour with real life problems along with a lot of romantic moments is well balanced. I laughed out loud at so many moments in this story, provided by Laney, the main charecter and her best friend Fiona. The charecters are great, they come across as down to earth and realistic and are normal people dealing with normal, real-life issues. It is a great quick read. Laney’s life hasn’t been easy; she is a single mom, stuck in a boring job and living with her brother who is a bit of a freeloader. When her brother eventually steps up and finds a job Laney doesn’t expect what might possibly happen as a result. Nate has moved back home to look after the family business after a family emergency. I loved Laney – she is a fantastic charecter. She is making the most out of what life has dealt her. She has some cute funny moments and the relationship she has with her son Rocco is great. He is just hilarious. Nate is a bit alpha male but he is patient with Laney and I loved the effort he went with her son so they had a great relationship. I did really enjoy this book and will be reading more from this author.
