4.25 minus quarter of a star bc of kamran’s chapters i literally lost track of the amount of times i sighed whenever i realized it’s his pov again akghfghsh and also bc not much rlly happened? wdym the events of this book transpired within just 24 hrs 😭
ANYWAY FIVE STARS FOR CHAPTER 28 & 29 ALONE. THE ONLY CONFESSION EVER. I AM DEVASTATED. MY LIFE IS FOREVER CHANGED. CYRUS I LOVE YOU.

I mostly read this to make myself believe reading the first one was worth it, but... now I can only say I've read two decently mediocre books. The only reason it's not two stars is because the last couple of chapters finally picked up, and I felt like I was actively experiencing something with the characters. Before that, it was honestly nothing more than words on a page. The characters are so terribly one-dimensional, and the only ones worth paying attention to are Cyrus and sometimes Alizeh. Kamran's chapters felt so useless, and the story suffered because you didn't get enough from either plotline. I'm confused about what these books are even moving toward, but unfortunately, I will be reading the next one

no clear overarching plot actually, just characters. I was actually surprised when I finished that that was it. I can see how this book is trying to be a court of mist and fury, but it also I think needed some more depth to work as effectively as acomaf. it’s also kind of rare that we have entered a love triangle and I simply have no idea who she’ll pick at the end of it. throuple? that all said, I like the characters and I’m reading the third one now : )

Seriously this book is perfection, yes there’s no plot, yes nothing happens BUT HELLO CYRUS EXISTS ‼️😩 Please read it!!!! The 1st book is a little bit slow but I promise this one is worth it 😭😭😭 I ended up with exactly 361 highlights but I’ll put my favorite ones below: “What is your name?” “Of all the non sequiturs. Why do you need to know my name?” “So that I may hate you more informally.” “Ah. Well, in that case, you may call me Cyrus.” “Tell me—is it too much to hope for our future that you will not make it a habit of slapping me in the face?” “Yes.” “I see. Then married life will be exactly as I imagined.” these two ⬇️‼️😩 “God, you’re so beautiful,” he said, his smile vanishing. “Even when you lie to me.” ”What were you going to do? If I kissed you? What would come next?” “I would marry you, I’d marry you tomorrow. And then I’d take you to bed. For weeks.” ok now my favorite 🧎🏻♀️⬇️ ”I look at you and I can’t breathe. In my mind, you are already mine.” Case closed. Cyrus of Nara, man of the year 🏆

this book was actually better than i had expected? like we all know, most of the time the second book in the series is not so ... but i guess one of the reasons why i loved this book is cyrus. he's so oh my god. i am so torn between cyrusalizeh & kamranalizeh

“Then be with me,” he said softly. “Let me worship you.” I believe I’ll be giving all the books in this series a 5 ⭐️ rating because Tahereh Mafi SERVES every goddamn time. The first installment took me by a storm and this sequel has all my love for this world she created. The writing is consistent with the flowery prose that will give you all the feels! It truly had me giggling at ungodly hours because the banter and tension is so *chef’s kiss* Cyrus is aware of what in the goddamn fuck he’s doing to me and I’m so fucking speechless at how carefully crafted this story is. This woman definitely knows what she’s doing to me because after writing Aaron Warner, she was so determined to give us a new and fresh story with a hot and charismatic morally-grey man and a badass woman with the biggest heart ever. Once again, Tahereh’s managed to exquisitely touch all the plot holes she’s left for us to think about in This Woven Kingdom and I simply cannot wait for how she’ll explore the story in the next book <3 Old Review from 2021: kamranalizeh better be endgame 😭 cyrus also has great potential for a second lead but kamran bb Note: apologies, because i was terribly mistaken. since i’ve read shatter me, i am now aware that in tahereh’s world, the first guy never gets the girl 😂

The writing is still really beautiful and i love the scenery and most of the charachters but litteraly nothing happend.... It was 400 pages long and we are still on the same day where the last book ended. This feels like a filler book and i honestly only kept reading because of Hazan (he got like 10 pages of screen time). Also i DONT LIKE CYRUS please i dont want them to be a couple, why couldnt they just be best friends or something like im not convinced on their romance at all and girl your man Kamran is COMING TO SAVE YOUUUUUU

wow!!! wowww!!!! i liked this a lot! the kamran scenes got a bit boring after a while that’s why i didn’t give this 5 stars btw CYRUS AND ALIZEH IM IN LOVE WITH YOU GUYS HAZAN BABE i liked the random grandpa king lore like with the bird goddess??? his mother? i liked it very interesting cyrus is just taking me out like pleaseeeee please take this man out of his suffering i love him though! kamran might’ve been replaced idk WTF TURNS OUT BOOK 3 GETS RELEASED TOMORROW

i don’t have words. i want the next book—no, i NEED the next book immediately. i have never felt so many feelings reading and i don’t know how to cope now.

** spoiler alert ** Thaereh Mafi never dissapoints us, that woman made it again. The Tropes in that book were so good and every character was written so good. The enemies into lovers was so so good because she literally wanted to kill him. Ahh. I mean I loved Cyrus since book one but what he said after the scene with the devil !!! He was so desperat to marry her and he was so so obssesed.

Literally nothing happened in this book. I loved it.

AH CYRUS

This book would've been a five star but the pov changes annoyed me so much. I really liked Kamran in the first book and I still like him (a little bit less, I admit but his new look made him all the more interesting) but he had no business having all these chapters. WHY? I did not care for it. And even less when it interrupted a scene between Alizeh and Cyrus.
Cryus - other than Kamran - had me ON MY KNEES. I couldn't breathe during the "wicked girl" part lmao I was in much need of fresh air haha
Their bickering gave me life😂 when he threw her off to being catched by a dragon💀 it was so funny lmao I loved their whole dynamic in this book! It was so refreshing.
I loved him and he had my loyalty the second he patted his dragon and gave her an apple. (I will defend her with my life!)
I didn't forget he was a ginger but for some reason he was blond in my head. Maybe because he reminded me of Aaron and Jacks so much idk
Back to Kamran... The beginning of the book had me in fear I was witnessing the birth of Adam 2.0 when he was convinced of her ill intentions the second she wasn't the weak little thing anymore. But I was willing to forget it because he was in shock and his (despicable) grandfather (who I somehow can understand a tiny bit so I do not hate him) was killed. He seemed to redeem himself in the book but I'll keep my eye on him😑 He better treats her with respect the next time he sees her. He has no right to suspect her of anything because it's his fault she was in the spotlight at all.
I liked Hazan, especially his bickering with Kamran (there was overall a great deal of bickering between all characters which was hilarious), but I didn't get why Alizeh liked him so much? Did I forget something but I thought he only had one interaction with her before she went away but she talked about him willing to risk everything and wanting to see her as his queen? He did in fact only wanted her safe, did he not? It confused me a bit but it's possible I forgot where he told her a plan lol
The devil talk was a bit weird and I'm still not used to it because I have no clue what to expect from this thing/creature/god? Idk
I love a good poetry tho so I really liked that absolutely random and unnecessary poem near the end. I don't get why it was there but I liked the flow of it haha
The ending was so suddenly. There was literally nothing happening. It ended on a scene which should've been a silly funny little scene in the middle and not an end.
As of the story, I have no idea if this book had plot or not? It feels like so much happened but at the same time really nothing happened at all. Kind of the same as the first book. There is a plot but it doesn't really seem to start? I can't really describe it lol The devil, her magic, the prophecy - everything is there and ready but nothing moves foreward🤔 I didn't really notice it while reading because I just vibed so I'm not really complaining. I'm just confused as to how many books there are going to be (I have no clue if this is planned as a trilogy or more) because right now there still has to happen A LOT before this story is even near being finished. But then again, she did the same in the shatter me series because the first three books as a trilogy have more vibes than actual plot as well haha
All her books have some kind of weird crack in them that makes it feel like you only read for 10 minutes when you're finished. You just run through them in a matter of seconds.

Tahereh, respectfully, what???
just like the last one in this series, it was fine enough, but felt like it ended in the middle of the book!!?
there was not really much plot movement at all here, but a lot of character work and exposition. Still fine, the slow burn was nicely written, but like, bruh. Pace your books better. Ugh.

this was so fucking good omg

Highlights

“You have no idea what I could give you,” he said, his own eyes blazing. “You have no idea what I want. I have been in agony for eight months, Alizeh. Do you know how hard it’s been to pretend I don’t know you? To pretend I don’t want you? To act as if I haven’t known every inch of your body in my dreams? To learn that your heart has been entangled elsewhere? I look at you and I can’t breathe. In my mind, you are already mine.”

“And instead of being angry,” he went on, “instead of driving you away—instead of wishing we’d never met—I keep staring at that fucking cut on your neck, Alizeh, and I want to die.”

“I would marry you,” he said, stepping closer again, coming dangerously within reach. “I’d marry you tomorrow. And then I’d take you to bed. For weeks.”

“Heavens, Alizeh.” Cyrus had gone completely slack. “You might be the strangest girl I’ve ever met in all my life.”
“Are you insulting me?”
“Without question.”
She shot him a dirty look, but Cyrus only laughed.

She wanted to pummel him now. “I’m not stupid,” she said angrily.
“I never said you were stupid.” Cyrus was at the door, gripping the handle. “I’m merely pointing out that all signs seem to indicate you might be.”

“Take care, Cyrus,” she chided him. “If you keep laughing like that, I’m liable to think you have a heart.”
“Oh, you needn’t worry,” he said, his smile fading. “I most certainly don’t.”
The nosta went cold. Alizeh’s own smile faltered at that, some essential armor crumbling inside her. She suddenly didn’t know what to say.

Was it possible…to love and detest a parent simultaneously?

"I have a theory," he said, cutting her off as he walked backwards to the door, "that if I were badly wounded, you would help me. True or false?"
"False."
His smile widened. "Liar."
"I wouldn't," she said ruthlessly. "I'd leave you there and run for my life."
He was fighting a massive grin now, his eyes glittering with barely suppressed delight. "You would save me."
"I'd absolutely let you die."
He shook his head. "You wouldn't be able to leave me."
love the direction this thing between them is headed haha

"Hazan was my friend."
"I warn you," said Cyrus. "If you weep, I might vomit."
charming isn't he💀

"When I'm finally free, I give you leave to kill me at your leisure and take Tulan for yourself."
Alizeh stiffened, disbelief roaring through her, even as the nosta burned hot against her chest.
"You can't be serious," she breathed.
"My kingdom," he said softly. "For your hand."
I have goosebumps and not the good kind...😟

"Alizeh," he said softly. "Have you been a wicked girl?"
OMFG what is happening👀

With a whopping flap of its enormous wings, the dragon took off into the sky, releasing a screech as pain lanced viciously through her body. For a worrying moment, Alizeh thought she might throw up.
It was with great bitterness that she realized she'd just experienced Cryus's idea of a joke.
ngl as insane as it was it was kind of funny💀😂

He fought a smile at that, running a hand through his hair as he looked up at the stars. "Tell me - is it too much to hope for our future that you will not make it a habit of slapping me in the face?"
"Yes."
"I see. Then married life will be exactly as I imagined."
I've already shipped them since the last chapters in this woven kingdom lmao I'm too easily won over haha

"Should you insist on throwing yourself over and over you will only put us behind schedule and irritate my dragon, which she doesn't deserve. It's well past her bedtime, you need not torture her."
It's a she?! omg I love her

There was a flicker in those blue irises, and for a second Cyrus betrayed himself. Beneath his placid surface was something desperate, unrestrained, if not broken.
👀

“ Then be with me,” he said softly. “Let me worship you.”
🥵

She didn't know how the two of them kept finding themselves in these charged moments, and as a result she didn't know how to escape them.
I know! I know!
You’re in a young adult fantasy novel! Hope that helps :)
