Teen Titans: Raven
Reviews

probably would have dnf’ed it if i wasnt bored af at the library tbh but at least it made me love raven a bit more than before

The book is primarily set in Raven's new high school as she tries to fit in and comes to discover she has psychic powers which she can't control. She's also being haunted by nightmares — which readers familiar with her back story will understand well before she does. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2019/comm...

** spoiler alert ** In the Teen Titans animated series, Slade does his worst by sewing distrust among the Titans. He plays on their inability to openly communicate. Here, though, as two strangers in a strange town, Raven and Gar have exactly the opposite motivation. They have each other and they have a person they've been texting with. Quickly they become friends as familiar faces in an unfamiliar place are reassuring. The graphic novel also uses their insecurities about their powers as the starting point for their friendship and later relationship. Gar is also written better here than he is in Teen Titans Go. He's respectful of Raven's boundaries and genuinely nice to her. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2021/comm...

In this version, Gar reminds me of a young Jeffrey Goines from 12 Monkeys (1995). Gar isn't mentally ill like Goines but he does have parents who work on dubious animal testing, while he has friends who are vehemently against such activities. His actions are also tied to future changes, albeit not plague causing ones. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2020/comm...

Was so excited to get this when the bookstore messaged me this morning and I finished it this afternoon (which isn't really surprising because it's a very quick and easy read). Can't possibly express how excited I was to see some familiar faces though now I regret not reading the Beast Boy comic before this one because I feel like that would've given me a little more context about where Beast Boy was coming from. Loved everything about it but I'd give it a 4.5 just because I felt the relationship between the two (which I've loved since I was a kid) was a little rushed here, especially given the very short amount of time they were together. But still! Enjoyed this a whole lot and can't wait for the next one!

Giving this a 4 only because it was too short and I wanted more!

I really enjoyed this! The story definitely felt too rushed at times and like it glazed over some things too quickly, but it was fun! I don’t remember much about Teen Titans, but I’m pretty sure Raven is my favorite. Her story is interesting and I looove her style. I also love that this took place in New Orleans! I just wanted something more in depth; I wanted to spend more time with these characters. I don’t feel like I know them at all. I feel like this could have been so much MORE, but I did still have a good time reading it. The artwork was STUNNING as well!

** spoiler alert ** okay, this was SO freaking amazing. I was a little hesitant about starting it because I wasn't sure I would like the two together but omg they're the absolute best. oh, and this book has the best banter 😂! enjoyed this one to the fullest.

ok I actually enjoyed this one! totally took a different turn then I would've expected but it was still really freaking good 💚.

*4.75. this comic pulled me out of my slump so automatic 3 stars. I had to get used to the main character having the same name as me but nonetheless it was still good. I also adore Maxine and Raven's friendship, literally so cute ❤️.

Ahhh-mazing.

this book was so good , page turning and keeps you interested the whole time . A new look on raven that I love.

Actual rating - 3.7 Stars Story was good but storytelling could've been better. Art is amazing, Picolo have done a great job.

I spent the whole night reading it, it's so cute! I'm in love with Beast Boy!

3.5

3.5

I loved the previous one and I loved this one. Again, the narrative is quite YA, but it works. I think they chose the perfect characters to create this narrative from. I think the art is fantastic, the story is "cute," and the narrative is well-written. I recommend it to anyone who loves the lore or characters.

Pretty much just some insight into orgin story. The art is great though.

4.5 I genuinely really enjoyed this!!! The artwork and artistry of this graphic novel was SO BEAUTIFUL! This book was super fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. I managed to finish reading this in one sitting. I really enjoyed the story and I am super excited for the next volume to come out! I really liked the character relationships and there were definitely some cute scenes! I definitely had to adjust to the writing style of this book before I really got into it, but once I did, I really started liking it!

I'll start of this review by saying that I absolutely adore the art style of this graphic novel. looking at the art alone made this book such a entertaining and fun book. As for the story, I did really enjoy learning about Beast Boy and seeing how his character progressed over the span of this graphic novel. I will admit that I am definitely the most excited to see Beast Boy and Raven in the same story finally interacting, so I am very intrigued to see where the next instalment takes us. For me personally, the main reason I felt as though this book couldn't reach five stars for me is because I found 90% of the characters to be extremely insufferable. Now I do know that it was intended but they were all so selfish, self centred and shallow. It did give the classic school stereotype feel but I still would have liked to have enjoyed more of the characters.

I loved this! Okay. To be fair: I love Beastboy so it was inevitable.
They nailed Beastboy's personality. I appreciate that they didn't change his backstory too much.
The art is great and I liked the coloring work. It is all just really good.

First off Kami is my childhood favorite author, beautiful creatures continues to define my reading life even at the grand old age of 24!📚 Secondly, wow oh wow the artwork is INCREDIBLE- Gabriel Picolo is an incredibly talented illustrator and I'm blown away by the artwork in this. I really enjoyed reading this and I look forward to the rest of the books in this series

I have been a fan of Gabriel Picolo's art work for years! When I knew he was coming out with a book that he drew I jumped on the chance to get it. Granted it took me this long to get to it. I liked the take on Raven's back story and where she comes from. Although I was hoping to get a glimpse of her and Beast Boy meeting.
