Elle Kennedy makes me forget that not all NA sports romance is as full of intrigue and delight as hers are. This one was aight. More like 2.5 stars but I rated it up because it was cute.

I love a good friends to lovers story. This one was very sweet. It could have been better, for it to be a college based series it doesn’t really feel like it much. It was missing something I’m sure what exactly but it was good enough for me to move onto book #2.

I'm not giving this a higher rating because i think from around 65% till the end it draged a little bit, but i really enjoyed this one until then and really apprecciated the twist in the jock being smart and being the one tutoring the heroin. The romance was cute, and Wes and Blair were very likable characters. I wish the conflict regarding Blair was more fleshed out, but at least that asshole is out of her life forever.
The secondary characters sound interesting, definitly looking foward to read their books!

I've been on a bit of a sports romance kick here lately and when I was given the opportunity to read (listen) and review The Assist, I jumped at the chance. I'll be honest, these books weren't on my radar, but I was intrigued by the blurb. It doesn't hurt that a few friends also really enjoyed the book and rest of the series. This story sucked me right in from the prologue. I knew unless something went spectacularly wrong, I was going to end up really liking this one. And that I'd want to continue on with the rest of the series ASAP. Sometimes you just get a good feeling about the book immediately. This was one of those times. 

I've seen a lot of new adult that plays off the "dumb" jock / smart girl setup, so I was super intrigued by the idea of a smart jock. A hot one. Who wears glasses. 😍 Wes was super swoony and Blair was totally likable. I enjoyed their banter and chemistry. Theirs was a light and fairly uncomplicated story, at least up until near the end. I didn't necessarily love the conflict, but it still felt real. And it didn't drag on so long that it pulled me out of the story. Plus, everything wrapped up in a really sweet way, so I was satisfied.

I was introduced to a bunch of excellent secondary characters during The Assist and basically I need all their stories. Like, right now. Especially Blair's bestie Gabby who seriously deserves a HEA. (Spoiler: I've already started her story. Hello, series binge.) I'm glad I took a chance on another new-to-me author. If new adult sports romance is your jam, you should give this one a shot.
