Really enjoyed the Wax and Wayne novels up til this one. Any time Sanderson extends a series founded on interesting personal narratives into the broader Cosmere (Mistborn book 3; a lot of Stormlight Archive; This) my eyes glaze over and I lose interest. 

Was reading for the magic cowboys not the "don't worry, in 15 or so years when I've written these four other series to completion everything that's happening here will have a pay off and make sense" plots. Same thing happens with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A lot of things happened at the same time nothing happened ? It was entertaining but also was underwhelming lmao.

I hope to see the plot really moves forward in the finale book because i still feel like what was the purpose of all the actions.

However, i love the characters and it was enjoyable it just didn't scratch the itch just yet.

Love that the whole band was in this together- and by extension Steris finally getting her moments! Each of them getting to contribute in their own ways was lovely and so many superhero/sci-fi/fantasy stories could really take notes here.

Shocking and revolutionary. Wax needs to start respecting my girl Marasi or else

My favourite of the Wax & Wayne trilogy, definitely!

I thought it took a while for the story to really get going - mainly from the second-half onwards, I'd say - but once the wheels were in motion...man did they spin fast. So much character development for our main posse, and Sanderson treated us to some really good lore- and world-building, setting us up perfectly for a fourth and final book (which I was 
  very
 to learn is in the works!)

Sanderson has quickly become one of my favourite authors, largely down to his ability to craft wonderful, intricate, enthralling fantasy worlds along with beautifully-written characters that I actually want to learn more about and love to see grow and develop as their stories progress.

you know what.. As much as i love Sanderson, this book was so not for me. The whole love thing was cute, probably the only redeeming thing about this book (Testement to how lukewarm this book is that i'm actually praising guey stuff in it, Ugh) This was basically some Indiana Jones type novel with characters chasing questionable relics.. Like the Lord Ruler's spear?? i mean, did the dude have a spear?? like i'm seriously trying to remeber if he did have one... Like did he go hunting at some point in the original mistborn trilogy that we weren't aware of and what the heck was the deal witht the bands? I'm pretty sure (view spoiler)[all he had in the trilogy were metalminds (that's what it's called right) and last i remembered, Vin tore that shit off his body and scattered it to the wind. (hide spoiler)] So where did the Bands come from?

The first book in the series you're like, Aight this is cool, these characters are funny and shit. But when you read the same plot (no joke) twice over, i mean, c'mon!! See Wayne is funny, Wax is serious and flies around, Marasi is the brains (Hmmm this sounds very Harry Potter ish, Wax is Harry albeit a smarter one, Wayne is Ron and Marasi is Hermoine; But i digress), they do some sleuthing for over half of the book, in that time they chase some bad guys, eventually at like the 60% mark or so they hit pay dirt and confront the baddies, Wax ends up saving the day and getting shot, Wayne does some wise cracking, Marasi helps any way she can... i guess. 

Again i seriously have to ask. Why did we need these books? everything ended perfectly in the original mistborn series, why did we need this? I honestly don't think the story is gripping enough and although there are some "whoa really" moments all the plots in book 4-6 develop mainly in the same way. 

All in all a pretty meh book..

i just want to say how much i loved steris in this book she IS the moment. both wax and me smiled like fools whenever she appeared because she is just so precious... just as wax said, steris is a gem. 
also going insane over that ending. mistborn 7 is not coming fast enough, i don't know how am i supposed to wait for a year when i miss the characters already.

wow wow wow. I think this is the book I've read the fastest in my life. Seeing the characters evolve to where they get here, seeing more of the world, the magic, the connections with era 1 and the greater Cosmere. Just great from start to finish.

The Bands of Mourning has been my favorite book in the arc so far. Sanderson finally lets Wax start to delve into some of the mysticism and legacy of the Mistborn world, and we get a really tantalizing look into what happened after the catasandra (?) and what happened to the Lord Ruler.

My first 4 star Sanderson rating (everything else was 5 stars). The Western theme seemed a little forced to me in this book of the series. I also felt that the character development didn't really advance much at all except for Steris.

I’m not sure I can write a review of this book that does it any kind of justice. I try to write reviews that actually contain some kind of cohesive thoughts about the book, but I’m afraid all I can do is gush right now. Bands of Mourning was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. I enjoyed myself immensely, and am so looking forward to any and all Mistborn stories Sanderson puts out in the future. Or any stories in the Cosmere, honestly. I just really love Sanderson, okay?!

There was so much character development here, especially from Steris. I know there are those who think that Sanderson fails at crafting believable, sympathetic characters. I’ve read some reviews that go so far as to say that his characters tend to be cardboard. I simply can’t agree. But I will say that his characters have become warmer and more genuine to me in his later books. I’m more attached to Wax and Wayne and the gang than I was to Vin and Elend, though I really enjoyed their story. I never saw a lack in his writing, but he’s done nothing but improve with every book he publishes. And I really love how he brings back characters from other books in different forms and capacities. (Those who have already read this know exactly who I’m talking about. One in particular. I had to give myself literally hours after finishing this book to be able to think of anything but a certain reappearance.

Just about everyone can agree that Sanderson excels at world building and magic systems and incredibly engaging action scenes and plot twists. This book and the books that preceded it were no exception. There was never a dull moment. There was humor, devastation, joy, shock, awe, and romance to be found within these pages. As my beautiful friend Mary pointed out, Sanderson gave an amazing gift to his fans with these Alloy Era books. There were new characters and adventures in a fascinating new time period, but in a world his fans had already fallen in love with. He knocked it out of the park, and I can’t wait to read The Lost Metal. No really, I can’t…

This took me forever to read. I just couldn't get into it as much as I did the last 2 books.

Wow! The Bands of Mourning is hands-down my favourite of the Mistborn Era Two books. The Mistborn world is already so developed, and just when you thought nothing more could come out of it, it expands into something even better.

After getting to know the characters in Alloy and Shadows, I can finally attach myself to the characters and their stories. That was something that was a bit lacking in the first two, but everyone is really awesome in this one. For example, I liked Steris in the previous two books, but now she is my favourite character in this sequel series. I always felt bad for her before, but she was totally awesome in this one. (view spoiler)[ I am happy that her and Wax's relationship worked out because I never liked Wax and Marasi together  (hide spoiler)]. I also like Marasi a lot better in this book. (view spoiler)[ The one-sided love for Wax and her constant longing for him was starting to feel desparate  (hide spoiler)]. She and Wayne made a great team and their relationship kind of reminded me of Hadrian and Royce from Riyria. (view spoiler)[ It's too bad that Telsin being evil was a dead giveaway. This book didn't have too many surprises compared to some of Sanderson's other novels  (hide spoiler)].

The worldbuilding was totally awesome, as usual in Sanderson novels. I loved the addition of the Malwish people and Allik is a fantastic character. The focus on relics from the original Mistborn series was fun and I think while Alloy and Shadows mention lore from the original Mistborn series, we can really see in Bands of Mourning how history develops into myth after hundreds of years.

More well rounded that its two predecessors paired with the strongest nostalgic tinge out of the three makes for a great read. Looking forward to the fourth instalment.
