The Best of All Possible Worlds

This book was a lot different from what I thought it was going to be, and that's a good thing. The official book description makes it sound pretty serious and epic. Instead, it's actually fairly light-hearted (although it does have its weightier moments) that reminded me a bit of Star Trek in that it's about a group's adventures exploring different cultures.

The book takes place on Cygnus Beta, a planet that's become home to various forms of humans whose planets have been destroyed. The newest such group of refugees are the Sadiri, humans who have mastered telepathy. In an effort to try to find women of other human cultures similar to their own so they can continue to carry on their way of life, a group of Sadiri and government officials from Cygnus Beta take off on a year's trek to explore all the cultures on the planet. 

Overall it was a fun read. The adventures came with a spirit of joyful exploration, and the romance between our two protaganists was rather Jane Austen-like in its build. 

A serious sci-fi fan might not like this as much (not serious enough or not sci-fiey enough), but for me it was a great, fun read.

Not totally sure how I felt about this book. There didn't seem to be much to recommend it, but I enjoyed it anyway.
