The Black Lily is the first book in the "Vampire Blood" series and I had such high hopes for this one as everyone on Instagram and Booktube has been raving about this one. But I have to be honest, I was disappointed in some aspects to the story. One I didn't realize it was an assassin type of female in the heroine, I really like to know ahead of time and I was honestly expecting more of a retelling but its more on the lighter aspects of the "Cinderella" storyline. I did find the world-building highly intriguing and all the reveals that come into play in this story were so fascinating, and the plot of this world leaves us hanging a bit so I am hoping it continues on in the rest of the series. I adored the hero, even though his parents are demented, he is so opposite of them. I love how a sense of honor and integrity that he has. The way that he is willing to fight for the heroine was so beautiful. If only I liked the heroine. I struggled with her character if I am being honest. I understood why she wanted to fight, but I didn't like how she treated the hero, especially in the end. I hope we get more satisfaction with her character in the rest of the series.
