Summer is literally my favourite character hands down
A little abrupt, especially the ending. It was good for what it is.
** spoiler alert ** I am in love with Colin Fitzgerald and I am proud of it. The relationship between Fitzy and Summer was messy and complicated. And I loved the drama of it all! Summer’s character has got to be one of my favorites. She’s loud and brash and so unapologetically herself. I loved her. Meanwhile, Fitzy is the complete opposite and I’m a sucker for the sunshine x grumpy couple trope. Only thing I did not like was the way they eventually got together and how it was brushed over. They slept together then it fast forwards to 3 weeks where Fitzy just casually calls her his girlfriend in his head. With all the angst that led up to them getting together, I was expecting more. Some big scene or talk to pull at my heartstrings. In the end, okay, this might not be the right read for everyone but I was squealing and smiling like no one's business.
it’s the lucaya parallels for me actual ranking: 4.63 subjective: 85 plot: 75 writing/dialogue: 90 worldbuilding: 90 character development: 100 character relationships: 100 toxic relationships?: no tokenized characters?: no world rules abused for plot?: no
i got really nothing to say with this but i feel bad for hunter and i enjoyed it.
when i review her books, i feel that i repeat myself in regard to how talented she is with her way of writing, how the plot is always good, how the spice is always great and how the characters are always amazing.
if i have to be more specific though, this one was great and i was very excited to get to know Fitz, but i’m left with an off feeling. i don’t know exactly what it is but i think i wanted a bit more of their love story also. it’s very good in the world-building and the plot but it lacks the one final drop for the love story to be the top interest of this book.
other than that, i’m very happy with this and Dean was of course my highlight in the book. 😍
WOWWWWWWW LOVED IT!!
it’s been a little while for me since I last read and finished a whole book, so I decided to continue this hockey genre that I’ve been exploring lately, and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT.
it was realistic with real life problems and a whole lot of female rage, (which was awesome) and I just enjoyed myself like I haven’t in a while!!
Gonna dive in to the next on the series soon enough : )
SUMMER (🌻) SUPREMACY. Our feministt queenn. I speed-read through it in a day and I’m telling you, it’s been a while. There were some parts, I got a bit bored. But still, it's a cute and fun read.
And OMG?!?!, I'm low-key more excited for Brenna and Cornell's story?!?!? Can't wait for that!
Such a fun love story! This would have been one of my favorite books in high school. Just wish it was written a little more mature. It’s clear the characters are in their early 20’s but I don’t need to read ‘EEEEK!’
Rating: 3 5 It was a nice read, but after the off-campus series, I find the first installment of its spin-off series, which is this book, somehow lacking. I love Summer's upbeat personality and her dynamics with her brother (they're hilarious) and parents. The parts after Summer and Fitz got together were also nothing short than great, but before that, it was mostly annoying. The way they danced around each other to the music of denial, and the way both dealt with Hunter just pissed me off. I get it, everyone has their own demons and is flawed, Summer is insecure and confused, and Fitz is a noble idiot, but what they did to Hunter was just uncool. This wasn't a bad read at all, but it was also just okay. I think the heroes and heroines of Off Campus series (Gareth & Hannah Logan & Grace, Dean & Allie, Tucker & Sabrina) are way more relatable and likable than this one.
didn’t like summer and fitzy but I love jensen and connelly,,, i mean big uwu energy!!!??!!
cute, real, with a boss ass female mc and grumpy "i'm a nerd" male mc what else do u need
I really like the off campus universe despite not finding the books masterpieces lol. In this book itself I found the reading very fluid, as in the others in the series this was very funny and light to read, I really liked the characters (especially the supporting ones) and the evolution of the protagonists. What I didn't really enjoy was the male protagonist, the whole time treating Summer badly and if it was for him they wouldn't even be together because he's a coward, also bothered me so much how the other male characters keep making jokes sex with Summer and the book treats it like it's funny, when it's actually uncomfortable. I give 3,5/5! Also, Brenna is the most iconic character!!!!!
"but i never felt truly alive until Summer." the way this served more than the entire off-campus series combined... summerfitz served such good tropes but i know brennajake is gonna serve even harder..
4.5 Stars They're back!!! Wow, I missed my hockey boys so much and picking up this book felt like I never left them. I'm so beyond excited for more of these amazing stories!! Plus, finally, a book just for Fitz and no surprise it was i n c r e d i b l e! Also, I really loved Summer both as a strong character and because of the amazing relationship that grew between her and Fitz. They had some serious chemistry and it only got better as the story went on and the slow burn got more intense. Also, a relationship between roommates, while maybe not the smartest move in real life, I can't deny how much I secretly love when it happens in books. The Chase was one I couldn't put it down, and very much like when I binge read the off-campus series I fell helplessly back in love with these characters again. The way Elle Kennedy writes is so effortless and through her use of humor, friendships, and romance I find myself completely endeared to every character and relationship in these books. I'm so happy with this new series so far. The appearance of our favorites and the inclusion of new characters has only left me eager for more!!
WE STAN A SASSY, FUNNY AND FEMINIST QUEEN! Summer was just one of the most amazing main characters ever. And please don't even get me started on Fitz because I have no words whatsoever for describing him (he's my soul mate and I'm forever sad that he isn’t real...) The characters are so amazing and loveable, and I'm so happy that the next book in the series is with Brenna because shes also a sassy, funny, and badass queen. Also, this book talks about so many important things like rape, learning disabilities, and many other subjects. Give this a chance and I hope you won't regret it! 🤍
I’ve been loving the off campus series and decided to see how I liked Briar U. I’ll say I really enjoy Elle Kennedy’s writing and it’s very easy to read. I think it started off very good and I really like how all the stories are interconnected but you don’t have to adhere to the order if you don’t want to. I think this was sweet, but I personally hate the miscommunication/lack of communication trope. Drives me insane and that was the common thing throughout the whole story. I was also pretty disappointed in Colin’s character because Elle writes all her male leads to have game, but he seemed to have the least amount of game and he was kinda lame in their intimate scenes. Good read, but not my favorite of her briar u / off campus
Fitz and Summer were such opposites. But it worked so well and I absolutely loved them together. Fitz is swoon worthy. He has tattoos, is kind, enjoys reading and gaming and is a hockey player. What more could you want. I loved how he was more reserved than the rest of the hockey players. Fitz was f-ing adorable. I honestly loved Summer. She wasn’t afraid to be who she was and to get what she wants. She had her flaws, but that’s what made her who she was.
5 Stars ★★★★★ “🇸🇭🇪'🇸 🇲🇾 🇲🇺🇸🇪. 🇸🇭🇪'🇸 🇲🇾 🇱🇦🇺🇬🇭🇹🇪🇷. 🇸🇭🇪'🇸 🇲🇾 🇹🇷🇮🇬🇬🇪🇷. 🇸🇭🇪'🇸 🇲🇾 🇩🇪🇸🇮🇷🇪. 🇧🇺🇹 🇲🇴🇸🇹 🇴🇫 🇦🇱🇱, 🇸🇭🇪'🇸 🇲🇾 🇭🇪🇦🇷🇹.” - 🇫🇮🇹🇿 HI BOOKLOVERS, I LOOOOOOOOVE THE CHASE! I FREAKING LOVE IT.. I love Fitz. I love Summer. I just love everything about this book. It's sad, hilarious, and amazing. I don't know how to describe this feeling but it was so perfect. I could've give it a 10 if I can. Summer & Fitz is just meant to be you know. They're like Fire and Water and poor Hunter. Logan and G's History repeat itself huh. I read about Fitz on every book at Off-Campus series, I didn't know that a nerd can be a dirty nerd when he wants to. And Summer, she is hilarious, she's funny, she's just full of life and I guess she got it from Dean ahahaha. You guys need to read this. I sweat it's the best. Highly Recommended! :) xoxo, Kath!
This book was fantastic. I had forgotten the humor that this author implements in this series, I already bought book two!!! Review soon to come.
Love it, Fitzy is my book bf. I love Elle Kennedys books
I’m now realizing I’m a sucker for sports romances. especially a hockey romance. summer and fitz were a little cheesy / cliché but god damn I still loved it. 1 star taken off only cause the miscommunication trope lasted much longer than I would have liked, but elle kennedy’s writing makes reading just so easy. can’t wait to read the rest of the briar u series!
Highlights
What’s with you and Connelly?” she demands in exasperation. “I swear, you’re obsessed with the guy. He’s an arrogant ass, Summer.”
“But he’s so hot.”
“Arrogant asses tend to be hot. That’s how they become arrogant asses.”
haha indeed, lol 😂
“Fitz.” She swallows again. “I’m sorry I cost you the job.”
I shake my head at her. “You still don’t get it, do you? You didn’t cost me a job. Kamal Jain cost himself an employee. I’m a good designer. I’ll find something else, I promise. But I’ll never find another you.”
Her lips part in wonder. “That’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
But that’s neither here nor there. You can’t change the past. You can only try to better the future.
“Always trust your gut, Summer. If something feels off, it usually is.”
I feel like too many girls fail to remember one vital truth: we deserve someone who gives us one hundred percent. Half-assed effort isn’t effort. Half-assed love isn’t love. If a man isn’t all in, then we need to be all out.
you’re right, sis!
I’d try not to share every aspect of my life. That’s probably just a good rule to live by, though. Always keep part of yourself hidden.
Brenna orders a coffee, black. I order a mint tea with lemon. Somehow that sums up this friendship of ours.
accurate.
Parents trying to sound cool is a whole other level of secondhand embarrassment.
The book is always better.
always.
perception and reality are vastly disparate. The truth is usually found somewhere in between.
that’s so true.
“We don’t speak Daphne’s name in this house,” Kaya explains to me.
Jee-zus. One measly stomach pumping and poor Daphne gets Voldemorted?
hahahaha lol 😂

“Look at what she’s wearing! She was asking for it!”
GIVE ME THE BAT! HE NEEDS TO GET SOME SENSE IN HIM. THE MF GUY, THINKSS HE’S ALL THAT🤬
“He searches my face for a few seconds. Then his eyes take on a gleam of determination. Oh no. I’m starting to recognize that expression.
“You know what, we’re dealing with this right fucking now.” He takes a menacing step forward. “‘Scuse us, Mike.”
“Naw, man, this was just getting good!”
I hold up my hands in a defensive pose as Fitz edges toward me. “Don’t you dare,” I caution. “Don’t you fucking—”
I’m being flung over his shoulder before I can finish that sentence.”
🫠😳
“The man might be a legend in the fashion world, and he did seem nice enough, but I got such a weird vibe from him.
Ugh. I don’t know. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.”
TRUST UR GUT, LADY

“The book is always better”
"Sunshine, I finish silently. Just like her name, Summer is sunshine."
"[...] I secretly think the book was better. The book is always better."
"You're not stupid, Summer. You just learn differently."
We live in a society where too many women tear each other down instead of raising each other up. That's absurd to me. We need to empower one another, teach future generations of girls that it's important to stand together. Once upon a time, we had a common goal and a common enemy. We were burning bras, and fighting for the right to vote. Now we're body shaming each other on social media and blaming the mistress if our man cheats.
A woman isn’t defined by her boyfriends. She’s defined by her achievements. And her shoes.
She's my muse. She's my laughter. She's my trigger. She's my desire. But most of all, she's my heart.
