It really started off with a bang! I found myself swept into the magic and the phenomenal world-building within the first chapter, but then the excitement just kinda... Drifts away. The whole orphan with magical abilities and is still expected to somehow save everyone while having no idea what they're doing thing has been so overdone... But at least this one has dragons! ❤️ And oh yeah, murder plots, marriage alliances, and a corrupt kingdom just to spice it up. The characters were all enjoyable, and I thought Maggie and Griffin had great chemistry together. But there was a lot of tell, not really much show, when it came to the ending. It felt rushed. Summarized. I really feel that more could've been done to make the ending more worthy of this story. The fact that this seems to be a standalone and not a series is disappointing.
