Clever, very involving, surprisingly sad in spots and at least a couple sections that were definitely not fun to push through. I'm probably docking it a deserved star because I wasn't particularly receptive to those sections due to my mood at the time. A promising start, though, and a series I'll continue to read.

This book was just good enough to get me to go onto book 2. I recall I wasn't super impressed with the first Dresden book. I like Felix Castor and the other characters. It also presents a different setting than other urban fantasy books in that the dead have risen in different forms and it is well-known to society. However, the story itself is a bit messy and I didn't find it that interesting. I am hoping the threads planted lead to a good overall series.
