oh my god. oh. my. god. the subtle twists? the reveals? the betrayals? i'm in awe. this was the perfect ending to a perfect series.

** spoiler alert ** It wasn’t that great compared to the rest of the series. I was disappointed and had to drag myself to finish it :( OKAY maybe MAYBE I’m just salty because I know Newt is already dead. It was torture to read!

I feel a little bit let down by this, because I was expecting so much more of the other gladers, but I got much of the same as the other books. One thing to note is that Thomas describes his time at WICKED as boring, and I felt like that for most of the book ... bored. Because it's futile; you know what happens to the characters, and I think James Dashner did a good amount of foreshadowing that for people reading The Fever Code before the main series. (It's also a punch to the gut for us seasoned TMR veterans.) But reading it afterwards feels pointless. Not much actually happens during this book, for the amount of time it spans. I feel like it's all stuff we've heard of during the series. (view spoiler)[I really wish we could have seen the Maze from the other gladers's points of view, I think that was what a lot of peoople were looking forwards to. I wanted more Newt. I wanted Newt's suicide attempt from his or Minho or Alby's points of view, not just looking at it from an outside perspective again. Thomas ... he really didn't have that much to do and it was nice and all to see it but the Maze would have been much more exciting - watching how it formed and the social structures and the Gladers getting used to it. (hide spoiler)] Don't get me wrong. TMR was a big part of my life a couple years back and I still love all the characters. Maybe not Thomas and Teresa much but I love, loved, LOVED Newt, Minho, Alby and Chuck. I loved seeing their histories and the gang all ALIVE AND TOGETHER MOTHER FUCK-- Anyways. Yeah. It does make me want to reread the series but the majority of the book wasn't what I expect from Dashner.

I definitely liked this more than the Kill Order, but it will never ever exceed my love for the original trilogy. The Maze Runner stole my heart, as did the Scorch Trials and the Death Cure. Some days I wish I could receive the Swipe and reread them all over again. Thank you James Dashner for creating relatable characters that I was able to connect to- I laughed, cried, screamed; felt every sort of emotion possible when reading these novels.

It wasn’t quite what I expected but I didn’t like to read everything that happened to the children before so.

NO CAUSE I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. IT IS MY FAVORITE OF THE SERIES

** spoiler alert ** 3.5 ⭐ I enjoyed this one a little more than I did The kill order. Here we get the background from the characters we already know. I found it interesting that they are made to forget their original names to get new ones. I really wished that this book had answered all of the questions I still have after reading the series. I really thought we would get them.

** spoiler alert ** Fever Code was amazing! I feel like it really cleared some things up since the series was a bit confusing of what WICKED was actually doing. I love how it showed what age the gladers were taken and what had actually happened before their memories were wiped and got put in the box. It absolutely broke me once I found out Newt and Sonya were siblings and how much Newt cared. Teresa betrayed Thomas's trust even though he can't remember that so clearly just like in the series. It connected well and although I still wonder how they hadn't found the cure earlier since so many tests were ran on Thomas this book will always be 5/5

Rating 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this for the most part but was let down in certain areas. I really enjoyed being back in this world and getting a wider scope of WICKED. Finally understanding what happened during the Purge was really great and we finally got a lot of answers from Ava Paige and her intentions that were always a little unclear. However, certain scenes that I was really looking forward to did let me down as I was expecting so much more from them. I think that this is also due to the fact that the book is once again in Thomas' perspective. I think I would have loved either it being inside another character's head or a dual-perspective. The fact we never got to explore the Maze as one of the Gladers was frustrating. We got it from Thomas looking on when I really wanted to see everyday conflict in the Glade as their rules and order were set up as they further discovered the ins and outs of the place. I believe that this was a bit of a missed opportunity to explore it. Aris and Rachel didn't really have much of a place either and I was slightly disappointed not getting to know their characters further.

A bit boring and nothing new added to the story. I liked baby newt and minho though

I loved this book so much! I think it is def. my favorite maze runner book as well. I loved seeing how thomas and his friends backstory and also how they go to the moment in the the start of the maze runner series. So many little things we learned and It made me love these characters even more. It was a wonderful end to this series and I am so happy I finally read it. I felt like this book was the prequel that I wanted and I still love thomas as hero!

3/3.5 Not going to lie, I'm kind of disappointed with this book. I love the maze runner series but it just wasn't as good as the others. It was kind of boring and didn't really have the twists like the first ones did. I'm also confused weren't the gladers sent in one by one? In the book most were sent in together so I was abit??? I'm also annoyed about the fact that we only learn 2 of the gladers real names (Thomas and Frypan) it would have been good to learn more of their names I'm not sure how it's possible but I love Newt even more! There wasn't really a lot written about him but he will always be my fav!

Solid four. Other than the first book in the series, this was the best one - shame that there were three in between that were not as good. Really liked that this told the story of Thomas and Teresa and the other Gladers 'before the Maze.' Really enjoyed learning about that background, and using the knowledge I had of the Maze (from book 1) and connecting the dots of the many details.

Wow

** spoiler alert ** Fave Maze Runner book! I really liked Teresa in this one, even though she completely betrayed everyone. I thought she was a bit less annoying. I also thought it was interesting to see what had happened before the main events of the Maze. I also thought it was kind of Heartbreaking to see when Newt tried to kill himself. (Yes, I almost cried) So yes, I think you shield read this book.

I absolutely LOVED everything in this book. I tought it was gonna be a bit boring because it said is was the story of how the maze was build but it was so much more and there were so much things to understand the whole story better. You could also see the changes from the characters because this took place before the maze. And you also saw the relationship of thomas with the others (especially teresa and newt) before the maze and i really loved that. GO READ IT NOW

It has been a while since I last read these books, but it was a fantastic read nonetheless. It answered many questions I had about the beginning of the Trials. I highly recommend it to anyone who has read the other books in the series.
