This book, despite being quite thick, was a very quick read. Quick, easy, fun... very nice. There was this whole mystery thing going on and a couple of cute romances, and this book... it was very good. Very cute.

And, best of all, it was a standalone.

This book actually felt like a Victorian era Charlie’s Angels. An entertaining read with fun, lively characters. It seems many readers were annoyed that the author used a lot modern slang but I must say that it didn’t bother me that much. I did listen to the audio version of this book so I probably paid less attention to the actually wording and use of language. The novel is narrated by the author herself and she does a great job at making the story come alive.

The plot in itself is a bit weak and there is some silliness involved but the book is entertaining and I enjoyed the light steampunk setting. A light, fun read.

Fun, silly, fast. It reads a lot like a 19th century novel, which is somewhat of an accomplishment, given that it purports to take place around then, but it also speaks to its naiveté. One of a few steampunk novels that tries to reasonably tell the story of women doing cool things, from multiple perspectives -- some of which are on high heels.

This was such a fun read! I loved that there wasn't a lot of romance involved (it's always nice to have a change) and that the story actually revolved around the plot, which consisted of three awesome girls that I would not want to meet in a dark alley. Cora, Michiko, and Nellie are all people that I would love to be, and they are all so sure of themselves.

The "Gowns, guns, and guys" tagline definitely describes this book perfectly.
