The Game Plan

The Game Plan

New York Times Best Selling Novel........... The Game Plan Spend the next 40 years in prison or break her lease early? Normally she'd be able to say that this one was a no-brainer, but things have definitely changed since she was forced to move in across the hall from Danny Bradford. A lot of things...... She wanted to get through one day, just ONE day without Danny Bradford doing something to test the limits to her control, but with that damn smile of his and his habit of leaving her contemplating manslaughter, she didn't see that happening anytime soon. He loved his family, but some days....... It was too much, but that was okay, because his small neighbor living across the hallway provided him with endless hours of entertainment. Not on purpose of course, but did it really matter as long she made him smile? Show less

★Book Basics★ Genre : - Contemporary Romance Series : - 5th in the series Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes Rating - 2.5 (rounded up to 3) ★Review★ I enjoyed this, I did, I liked the hero Danny, and felt like this might pack a bit more of an emotional punch than previous books in the series, given Danny's history with his father etc. Unfortunately it fell short. I love the Bradford men and their issues with food, it is light-hearted, a bit silly and funny. But in this book, it was far to over the top. I am getting a bit fed up of "incidents" being mentioned in a buffet or somewhere, but we never ever get to see what actually happens during, just the hero apologising to a traumatised heroine after the fact. Add in the heroine's reaction to any sort of medication, and it was far too over the top. It began to feel almost like a parody of the series. A mockery chucking in every whacky off the wall thing that had happened in the series in one book, then adding some more in for good measure. I do wonder if the author, with this series, has got it too much into her head that the readers love the whacky funny Bradfords, and took it too far, forgetting that it is ok, to put in the emotional stuff too. The stuff that can pull at our heartstrings. I really wanted to have more page time spent on Danny and his father, and then again on his issues toward the end of the book, but that was all sort of glossed over in favour or some sort of Benny Hill/Carry on Eating style over the top "humour". And I use humour lightly here, as it was not even funny toward the end. Also, occasionally, there were some POV changes between Danny's brothers, or father, and it was not always obvious who's head exactly we were in, All in, I liked the characters, love the family, but the execution of the story left a lot to be desired for me.
