Who I would recommend this to: Anyone interested in victorian literature or historical fiction. 

What I enjoyed about this book: I find that one of the main indicators of a well-written and well-loved book is that I find myself thinking about the characters, setting, and plot during reading and after I have finished the book. I loved the premise of this series and enjoyed reading both novels. Many people said they found the ending of the first lacking in vindication and closure, but the second novel does provide one with a sense of an ending to the story, so if you have read the first book, I highly suggest you read the second. In fact, after reading the second, I can say that the first seems rather incomplete without it. 

What I did not enjoy about this book: The only complaint I have is that the writing can be quite lengthy and not to the point.
