I liked the writing style of this book and the story as well....However, i feel like it wasn't for me. I loved it but i also hated it if you know what i mean.

Definitely not your typical story...a bit fantastical at times (meant to feel like a fairy tale, I think), but with a deeply emotional theme of loss and redemption. Interesting and well developed characters. Excellent symbolism, especially using fairy tales, which lent a magical feel to the book (and renewed my interest in Grimm's fairy tales!). I will definitely pick up another Alice Hoffman novel in the future.
