Relatively classic fantasy, and quite enjoyable. Very good variant on the "poor boy finds out he's actually emperor" trope, including not just being about boys. The trilogy does a great job of providing continuity without forcing you to care about individuals for too long, and the stories manage to end well but surprisingly. Not a challenging read, but thoroughly enjoyable.

It is blasphemy to separate oneself from the earth and look down on it like a god. It is more than blasphemy; it is dangerous. We can never be gods after all-but we can become something less than human with frightening ease.
