This is the book that got me out of a reading slump. I love it for that. Rose annoyed me at the start of the book but her mean-ness and attitude soon goes away and you find out why it was there in the first place. This book was so full of adventure, action, sweet moments, badass characters and beautiful relationships! I’ve already pre-ordered the next book in the series and I’m super excited!

"The Land of Roar" is an incredibly well crafted children's book. It captures everything that childhood represents: wonder, imagination and adventure. 

The core of the book is about family and the bonds we create with those around us. Arthur and Rose used to be as close as twins could be; but are starting to drift apart. When their granddad is taken captive by their old nemesis, Crowky, they have to come together to save him and mend the rift between them. 
This is a perfect read for children who are just about to start secondary school as it reminds them that you don't need to let go of childhood to fit in. You can still cherish the adventures you had and "survive" secondary. It a heartwarming story with a magical land that is very vivid and represents childhood imagination perfectly.

I LOVED THIS BOOK💖💖💖💖 this is definitely my favorite book of 2019. HEAR ME ROAR!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this idea of their imagination becoming reality. I wish that would happen to me (well expect the whole probably going to die part). This is An amazing book and I will cherish this book for the rest of my life. I also loved illustrations they were incredible. I highly recommend this if you're 1: Looking for an AMAZING book. 2: look for an AMAZING middle grade or 3: Looking for an AMAZING fantasy read. What a FUN FUN TIME 

This book was full of a colourful cast of characters and I had so much fun reading it. 

I loved that it drew you in from the moment you started reading and kept you going the whole book. There was no lull in the story and I found myself wanting to become friends with almost every character. 

The concept that the games we "play" as children are actually real worlds we used to escape to but have now forgot is so unique and imaginative. 

Highly recommend this one for children and adults

While I did enjoy this overall I found it weaker compared to other middle grades I have read recently. I think I struggled to connect to the characters especially as I found Rose really unlikeable. Arthur was such a lovely kid but then his twin seemed to have turned into a horrid little girl worried about what other people thought of her and being quite cruel to her brother. I think it was the cruelty with which she treated him and never really apologised for it which got to me the most. Had it not been for her I think I would have enjoyed it more. I would have loved to see Arthur develop his own confidence and self worth a little away from his twin. 

The story was interesting though and I liked Roar as a land in itself though perhaps it would have been better if it would have explored the world a little more. 

I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.
