I feel like this book was really underwhelming in every sense. Considering it’s in only one persons POV it starts getting really repetitive. There’s no tension that I’d expect for a mystery book to keep me on edge and I think every detail they revealed was just tossed and then moved on from so quickly.

a slog through and through tbh

Nothing ever happened...

Meh

Very 3/10 Mystery book. The entire plot seemed very basic to me. It was as if the author had followed a particular formula to write a mystery. Plus the choice of narrator was really bad. It would’ve been a better novel if it had dual or multiple narrators or just someone else. It didn’t seem like the narrator was that important of a character in the entire book. A third person could be the narrator and it would still feel the same. The plot is very basic as i said earlier. First a person goes missing and the secrets start to unravel quite easily and there is no suspense. Though the ending wasn’t that bad. I think you could read this if you don’t wanna read something heavy

It started really well. I was hooked and so curious, but then from the middle onwards was just meh... It wasn't a thriller at all but just a mystery in my eyes

Closer to a 2.5 rating Honestly I was eating this up the first third. It quickly became so unbelievable and I wish it just took a completely whimsical and fictional turn. Also the writing was def very ……

It started out a bit slow for me, but by halfway thru, I was hooked and had to know how it ended.

I wouldn't call this book a thriller. It would fit more in Drama genre.
I don't get the hype around this book. The beginning was strong and interesting, but as the story went on, it got boring and so repetitive.

2.5

I don’t know how to say the right thing about it but I really expected SO much more… Like… Please…? This book was talked in almost everywhere and even got movie adaptation but I don’t know :( maybe it just doesn’t really close to home. It’s more like a suspense family drama since I didn’t find any detective evidence or such that for me personally are SO crucial in many particular thriller books. Nontheless, if you want to a heartfelt story to find your father and the faith of mother connection, this book is really for you. Still worth to read but maybe I wouldn’t talk about it that often!

This booked got my attention from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down buttt the ending was so underwhelming. Still a good read but it started off so good and then I had to slug through the ending.

The concept of this story is great and at some parts it really drew me in but overall it was disappointing. I found it really slow to get in to the twists and turns and the ending was a bit underwhelming. The story of Owen felt unfinished.

A quick read. It's quite a fast paced book, I'm not a fan of the characters. Hannah seems to have a bit of a Dunning-Kruger syndrome and the others are flat.

Not a fan of the ending

This was a good thriller, with decently written twists and turns to keep readers engaged. I did not see all the twists coming, which I always like. I recommend it.

Dramatic, compelling, and surprising, The Last Thing He Told Me was a speedy, fun read. The mystery seemed like it didn't belong in a domestic drama, but it all fits together well for a satisfying read.

Amazing

This book was great!!!! The plot was great and i loved how new characters entered the story. Now Gary the US Marshall got on my last nerves like…. we don’t want you here, i knew he was off from the beginning but anyhow…. if there is another book that goes with this story plz lmk because we need to know how their life went on afterward. It would have been nice, however, to here some of Owen’s perspectives so that the backstories would align and be more interesting. Also, i might’ve missed it in the book, but what happened to Owen like people said that he died but i didn’t read that part idk but the book was good and would definitely recommend!

Guys istg i finish reading and I forget to update it up here
The mystery was alright tbh I just wished there was a much more cooler ending to it than him just going away from their lives forever like that

It was just okay, fast read, entertaining but wouldn’t necessarily recommend.

Was hooked through 5/6ths of the book but the ending… I just couldn’t get behind. Last bit felt a little all over the place.

3.8/5. good read, wasn’t crazy about the ending tho.
Highlights

"Thank your stepmother," Elenor says.
Which is when an amazing thing happens. Bailey doesn't cringe when I'm referred to that way. She doesn't thank me. She doesn't even look at me. But she doesn't cringe, which feels a little like the same thing.

Her husband has been sleeping with his coworker on and off since Patty was pregnant with the child that Mr. Silly is entertaining in the backyard. Maybe we are all fools, one way or another, when it comes to seeing the totality of the people who love us—the people we try to love.

He would only leave for her. It has to be that. He left the way he did to try and save her. From something or someone.
It all comes down to Bailey.
The rest is just a story.

Watching my grandfather work taught me that not everything was fluid. There were certain things that you hit from different angles, but you never gave up on.

But I smile as they walk up. How can I not? Bailey is smiling too. She is smiling at me. “Mom," she says.
That’s it I’m done this just killed me

This is when I clock his wedding ring, which he is still wearing. The ring I made for him.

"Okay, fine," he said. Then he didn't hesitate, not for a second. There is nothing I wouldn't do for my daughter."

“You cannot make a deal with the devil and expect it to turn out okay." I turn away from him, look out the window. "Except I just did."

Nicholas pauses for a moment. "Go home," he says. “You'll be safe. Both of you. You have my word."

Bailey and I will go on-but without Owen, without Ethan. Bailey
It’s exactly what he wanted you to do “protect her”

He would live on Pad Thai, given the choice.
Good choice

I left there for them to find. I left the note on the table, beneath the phone. The note that Owen left me. I left it for Grady. Protect her.

Sounds to me, Grady, that youre saying if we deciine, the mọney goes away ..." "If you decline, all of it goes away," he says. “Being a family again, safely, goes away."

She pauses. “A will. The final will, for Owen Michaels né Ethan Young. Do you want me to tell you what it says?"
Ihm hell yes

But still. I know she would pay that price to be with her father. We would both gladly pay that price, again and again, if it meant we could all be together.

"Why did Owen run, Grady?" I ask. "He had to," he says.

But Bailey isn't standing there. Grady Bradford is.
Bro just omg nuts end pls I can’t keep going like this

But the hotel room is empty. Bailey is no longer there. She is gone.
I saw that coming

The lawyer's full name was Daniel Nicholas Bell, aka: D. Nicholas Bell. His son-in-law went by the nanme of Ethan Young. Ethan's daughter's name was Kristin.
That’s them…he is scared because he put dangerous people in jail

block away from where his daughter was killed. So he'd be the one to find her. So he'd be the one to see it.
Omg this is already crazy and it’s not even half of the storu

That I don't know what her father did, but I know who he is. And anyone who reacts to him the way that Charlie reacted to him is someone we can't trust. He's someone we need to get away from.

Charlie looks like he has seen a ghost. “Holy shit,” he says.
This is getting better and better
