okay so i do not know why it’s not letting me put anything but the classroom edition on here I READ THE BIG BOY EDITION!! anyways 

probably my favorite book of all time?? i own a paperback of this that has seen some shit because i’ve read it over 20 times

something about the mixture of how mark talks to himself combined with real world science and explanations, and the entire HAB fabric manufacturing sequence??? holy SHIT that’s my absolute jam. big fan of the (.Y.) joke also thank you mark watney 

half a star removed because i wanted more nerd talk!! give me more equations give me more chemistry and engineering and numbers GIVE ME MORE!!!! this is the book that made kid me want to work at NASA!!! give me more numbers!!!!!

I’ve been working on this book for a loooong while now. A couple of years tbh. It’s good, and Andy Weir certainly deserves the hype and attention for this book.In terms of cons, I couldn’t help but feel like the ending was a little anticlimactic and some of the issues he experienced at the end felt a little contrived. The science also gets a little dense at times and I regularly had my eyes gloss over with disinterest as I skimmed through the sciencey explanation. I do understand, however, that the hard science is the whole point of the book; it just wasn’t for me.Overall, good book! Kinda think the movie improved on it in a lot of ways, but I also saw the movie first almost a decade ago so I’m biased.

What a great book, loved it!<br />If you ask me I think every astronaut should carry a copy during missions, at least for inspiration, just in case :-P<br />Also, the movie did a great job with the adaptation.

I really enjoyed this book! There was a lot of math and physics that I didn't understand/want to concentrate on, so that's why I rated it 4 out of 5. It wouldn't be fair to rate it the same as another book where I understood and felt everything. Great, uplifting story. Gives me faith in humanity.

wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be and it's definitely readable and entertaining. 90% of this book is math equations and people Doing things but none of it is actually necessary to read. i'm confident if you skipped every 2 sentences you wouldn't have missed a thing. writing style is an abomination until we stop reading about the martian guy. book humor requires more intellectual thought than the author wants to give so we have sarcastic one liners to entertain us Literally the whole way through. im dragging this hard but I Did get through it and I Did enjoy at least some of it so again. it's not That bad

           The story was superb. The author made it very easy to read. All that I felt it was lacking was a little more at the end. Would have been nice to get information on what happens to Mark once he is back on Earth and how his life has changed since his experience.

Props to Andy Weir for keeping this non-science person kind of fall in love with Science and space. There were some time leaps in the story and strange craft moves that left me kind of wanting for more but I get it...a really cool botanist engineer is stuck in Mars with such an intense will to live AND the entire world kind of stops to save him... in the end, that was enough. I serioulsy can't wait to see the movie. Anyway, many of you will like this book, I think. Between all the science geekiness, the pace, the problem solving and Watney's quirky personality, you're in for an interesting ride. :)
