The Marvelous
Reviews

Privileged Home Maze 0066CC The Marvelous by Claire Kann (2021) is an updated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl (1964) but written for a YA audience. Except this one removes the parents, plays up the horror of that sort of situation, and gives a cast of much nicer participants. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2022/comm...

Cute!

2.5 it wasn’t awful but i couldn’t help but be sooo underwhelmed the majority of it

3.75 rounded up Overall, a super fun read! It takes the inheritance trope, adds social media, and a touch of Willy Wonka for a super fun YA mystery. Like other readers, I am a little perplexed about the exclusion of Harlow's POV and would love to learn more about her, but I don't think it affected my ability to enjoy the story. I found it thoroughly engaging and enjoyable and I looked forward to the moment I would pick it up each evening. Kann did an awesome job at making me shift my perception of the characters, and while I found some characters abrasive at the beginning, I came to really love all of them. If you're going into this looking for a thriller you might be disappointed, but you should give it a chance as a fun YA Mystery.
