The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

The #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestseller -- now in a digest edition (Age 7 and up) Once, in a house on Egypt Street, there lived a china rabbit named Edward Tulane. The rabbit was very pleased with himself, and for good reason: he was owned by a girl named Abilene, who adored him completely. And then, one day, he was lost. . . . Kate DiCamillo takes us on an extraordinary journey, from the depths of the ocean to the net of a fisherman, from the bedside of an ailing child to the bustling streets of Memphis. Along the way, we are shown a miracle -- that even a heart of the most breakable kind can learn to love, to lose, and to love again. This beloved classic is now available in an accessible digest edition with black-and-white interior illustrations.

This book is what everyone needs to read at least once in their lifetime— specifically for when you’re going through your first real heartbreak ever (platonic, romantic, familial), and also for every heartbreak that comes after. This book is so damn GOOD. Infinity/5.

A book for child has never been this good. Well, seems a li'l bit heavier for a child book eh? NO. IMHO, bukunya malah cocok bener buat anak-anak. saya yang udah gede aja masih trenyuh campur haru mengikuti perjalanan sedihnya Edward. Tapi inti ceritanya dapet ko. dapet sekali malah. Jadi saya putuskan memberi 5 bintang untuk jalan cerita yang ringan (namanya juga buku anak-anak), karakter yang hidup, dan ilustrasi yang menambah warna cerita. aand now, if you want some spoiler, maybe: (view spoiler)[ ceritanya happy end ko ;) (hide spoiler)]

Nangis TT. Bagus!

"Open your heart,” she said gently. “Someone will come. Someone will come for you. But first you must open your heart.” Journey of Edward the rabbit to find the meaning of love and end with love. I never thought at first that Edward story really so beautiful and meaningful, can't take my heart to listen till the end of the book 😭😭 The story really good and making your heart warm to follow Edward journey.

Why do I even bother with adult literature?

A porcelain rabbit, 3’ tall, is well-loved by his owner but feels no special bond until they are separated. Thus begins the “miraculous journey” that, of course, reunites them years later. (Is it a spoiler if we all know this is going to happen?). I listened to this audiobook to decide if it was appropriate for my granddaughters, almost 9 and just 7. It is populated with stereotypical characters (eg a young boy taking care of his ill sister while their abusive father comes and goes, presumably to drink his own sorrows; a downtrodden man and his dog riding the rails; a cook and diner owner who is angry with a poor boy who cannot pay for the meal he ordered and ate; rich boys who tease and play too rough with toys…). We’ve seen all these characters before and there is nothing new or surprising here. For a young person, however, it should require some careful adult attention to answer any questions about “people who are mean to kids” and the like. In the end, my almost 9-yr-old found the audiobook confusing (because of a complicated story told by the frightening grandmother to the rabbit’s owner) and she bailed about 20 minutes into this 2-hr audiobook. This was before the rabbit’s adventure got going. I don’t blame her. She returned happily to the second Harry Potter book.

It's a sort of Jonathan Livingston Seagull for the 2000s. This vain rabbit must be taught a lesson. It takes him a while to learn and he goes through an awful lot. But he's a better rabbit for the journey.

Started around 9pm and finished at 10:35pm. A lovely little story that ended much like I expected it would. This is what one might write if they were going to update The Velveteen Rabbit, but with a snarkier and more difficult character who still manages to have some whimsy in his own way.
