The Misunderstanding and Caligula
Reviews

4,5 Mindblowing, haunting and intense, The misunderstanding makes for the most absurd and extraordinary play I've had yet to read. Read it for a class. I'm still mind-blown, 4 hours after I finished it. I find the irony of it absolutely amazing. Against anything my teacher sustained in class, no one will ever convince me The Old Man isn't a God instance in a demitisate world. "The old servant goes to the window, sees Maria and Ian, then hides. He stays for a few moments alone in the scene. Ian comes in. He stops, looks around, and sees the old servant. Ian : Isn't anyone here? The old servant looks at him, crosses the stage, then leaves. " It loses half of star for it's predictability - that in no way lessens the great impact of this play.
