The Monarch of the Glen American Gods #1.1
Reviews

A good addendum to American Gods, one of my favorite novels. We find Shadow's tried and true character at large once-again and fall back into the mythical/supernatural world he seems to constantly clash with. This story fell a little short of the greatness that is American Gods, mainly because it feels rather condensed and a little bit rushed due to format, but the characters are very approachable and hypnotizing as always.

Monarch of the Glen catches up with Shadow a year after the events of American Gods. He's been travelling through Europe, and is currently in the middle of no where Scotland when a job lands in his lap. A job Shadow is sure is not what it seems, but he takes it anyways and ends up embroiled in a supernatural conflict once again. Whoops! Monarch of the Glen, despite being about a bloody battle, feels a touch more comedic than American Gods, and is a nice interlude between the first book and whatever comes next. It hints at some interesting plot developments, but gives little away about what is coming next. Well, other than to suggest that Shadow's role as... whatever he is not yet complete. Also, readers find out Shadow's real first name which is sure to inspire a lot of theorising :)

Very nice "short story"! Written along the lines of American Gods, I love the language and all the atmosphere that creates. 5 stars for sure! I edit the review to thank also Daniel Egneus for these pieces of art. Makes the book even better!
