Although I love the series as a whole, I'm not a fan of books two and three. Had The Moor kept along the lines of those books I probably would have stopped reading the series. This one though is focused again on Holmes and less so on Mary's research and/or their adventures in Palestine. The Moor feels a lot like The Hound of the Baskervilles and is therefore full of win.

This was... basically an updated, slightly modern version of The Hound of the Baskervilles, which was never my favorite Sherlock Holmes story anyway :/

(6/6/21): yeah hound of the baskervilles is STILL not my favourite holmes story, but i actually really appreciated the folklore & history aspect of this a lot more now
