Absolutely shocked at the ending! Really glad I listed as an audio book as I was gasping out loud at the twist and turns! Can’t recommend this book enough!!

I have yet to be disappointed by C.J. Tudor. I absolutely adore paranormal thrillers and her delivery is fantastic. She keeps you hooked from page one and you are unable to let go of the book until you reach that last page where you get all the answers and it feels like you finished a marathon. That's one of the things that made me fall in love with thrillers. How they grip you with different emotions and all the packed heavy action that leaves you with a book hangover. This was it for me.

           Part of this was probably my own issues...but I had no idea what was happening the first half of this book. There was a lot of different things going on and lots of people who I couldn’t keep straight. After the halfway mark I was able to see what the point of this was and then the farther we got the more messy everything was getting and I was a little confused still. But overall I can see why people would like this...it was a twisty and dark thriller that really kept you guessing. Some things I still don’t understand which is fine. It might’ve been that I listened to this... if I had physically read this I might’ve understood things more and maybe even liked it a lot more too.

I couldn't tell you much about the beginning except that I was very confused. Halfway through I finally realized things. Gabe is looking for his daughter who was supposedly killed along with his wife but whom he saw in a car. All the supernatural stuff was confusing and didn't seem to really mean anything to the plot. I don't feel like it changed anything or added anything to the story at all. It was just really confusing. There were a lot of people to keep track of which is one reason I found it hard to understand things. I never quite understood the Samaritan and/or the Sandman...were they the same person? and who were they? I know one of the big plot twists was when Gabe was reminded that the car he saw his daughter in was driving toward his house and not away from it...I know this was a big deal, but my little pea brain didn't ever really wrap my head around why this was significant. I mean obviously that doesn't make sense, but whyyyy?? Later I think Fran explained it, but I still don't know....I know she said she got turned around, but I must've missed something else because that doesn't seem that significant, at least not enough to warrant the big plot twist. 

The end felt like a hot mess to me. I felt this huge lead up to the end when they were all in the house. But when Gabe went to talk to Miriam it felt really anticlimactic. Like she just admitted to everything so easily and they were literally just sitting there having a casual conversation. Then she pulls a gun and was supposed to kill herself but didn't--still confused. Then I feel like other things happened that I don't understand or didn't comprehend. I still don't understand the point of Izzy's "powers" or even what in the word it did to benefit anyone. Also, Isabella died because why? Didn't understand that either. Basically did I understand anything? Apparently not. I still give it three stars because I didn't hate it, and I can see the appeal to this. It wasn't a bad book, I just think maybe I wasn't fully invested in it at the beginning and I missed key points.

I would like to thank Netgalley for an ARC copy of the ebook, The Other People. I’ve read the first novel of Tudor and I really enjoyed it. I became intrigued in the beginning of the story. It wasn’t a slow process like some stories as some novels take their time to develop.

Gabe the protagonist of this story is someone who clings to the hope of finding his daughter. Though odds were against him, yet he still was determined. And it’s pretty crazy how everything seems to unravel in the story. Katie is someone who is a caring person who was willing to help despite things we’re looking bad at her end. Fran of course is a bit of a mystery. I still think she was wrong doing what she did and Alice is just an innocent girl that’s all I can about that.

I really enjoyed this novel. Grabbed my attention from beginning to end. A great mystery to the kidnapping and murder. It was quite a plot twist and I would highly recommend it. I give this novel 5 stars out 5. It was in my opinion a fast pace reading. Glad I was able to get my hands on this novel.

I've been a huge fan of C.J. Tudor ever since I read "The Chalk Man". I've been forcing everyone I can to get them to read it. 

So naturally, I blindly bought this book and finally got around to reading it this week. But this wasn't as great as her two previous novels. It starts off pretty decently and somewhere in the middle gets unputdownable. I didn't want to go to sleep but I'm a stickler for routine so I went to bed all jittery. It was the ending that bothered me. The author is known for adding some supernatural elements in her book but in this one, there is a small chapter where I feel like I was reading another book entirely; a completely ridiculous one at that.

And while it lacks the creep factor of her previous works, this book is still good. There are enough interesting, relatable characters and a story that keeps you engaged from page one.

CJ Tudor did it again. I read this book in one day, it is a fast read if you’ve got the time, but it’s a really good. It’s about injustice, and how our lives have the potential to overlap and intersperse in various ways. 

There’s also the added elements of the dark web, revenge, and some supernatural aspects. This was one book where I could see the puzzle pieces clicking into place, but I still enjoyed reading it and following the story just to see how it all came together.

To be very honest, I struggled to get into Tudor's previous two books, but I really enjoyed them once I did. The Other People hooked me from that insane start. A man is on his way home and he sees his daughter being kidnapped. I enjoyed this book a lot and I'm excited to see her next release. An entertaining thriller with otherworldly elements that didn't immediately put me off.

This has a little bit of every genre. Creepy, thrilling, supernatural, emotional....etc

C.J. Tudor is an author that I buy from automatically.

I really enjoyed this book!

Read it for The Literally Dead Bookclub February book pick. It had been on my list for a few months and I decided to bite the bullet and buy the kindle version. 

I loved the premise of the story. We begin with Gabe driving down the M1. He spots a girl who looks just like his daughter in a car travelling down the motorway. He follows for as long as he can until losing the car. But there’s no way it can be his daughter. Then he receives a call from the police about his wife... and his daughter. 

Fast forward three years and we start to follow four different characters. The clear one is Gabe, we know who he is. We know what’s happened to him. We feel connected to this character. We also follow Katie who works at the service station Gabe often stops at and Fran who we have no idea who she is. 

I think the less said about this the better as anything in else can be considered spoilers I think! 

For me, I loved the story and the ideas behind it. However, I wish the supernatural elements had either been bigger or smaller... I felt like there wasn’t enough there. Or there was too much. I guess that doesn’t really make sense but maybe if you’ve read this you’ll understand what I mean? This is the reason it didn’t quite make it to 5 stars for me!

Really enjoyed the writing for the first 75% of the book, and the plot held my interest. 

No spoilers, but I found the ending unsatisfying. I felt like it didn't hold up to what I expected from the rest of the book.

Some books have an identity crisis, and this is one of those.

It had a half-decent plot for a kidnapping with a supernatural element, and a half-decent "Other People" plot. (I don't want to make this a spoiler review).

I wanted it to go all into the "Other People," OR all into the supernatural element. It did neither, so instead of a gripping plot from beginning to end, we got a decent beginning that fizzled out to smoke. And it was kind of a rough, rushed ending.

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. It was so griping I couldn't put it down! 
There is a lot going on in this book but the plot and characters all very cleverly link together and although I did guess a lot of the reveals this in no way spoilt my enjoyment of this rollercoaster ride of a book. 
The supernatural element was something that I was confused about. It was unexplained and completely glossed over at the end. I think it was completely unnecessary.
The pacing was also something that could have been done better. The end felt super rushed and neatly tied. 
The voice of the narrator was what made this book a standout for me. The way the plot was framed also made this a standout.
Highly recommend!!

This book was interesting.... 
I appreciated the writing style and the fact that everything is mostly tied up neatly at the end but the ending still leaves you with and ahhh sh*t moment. It's also one of those scary thrillers cause it could be real.. this could happen.. The Other People could be out there...



I got lost in the turns a few times but I thought this was overall a successful read, it was enjoyable for sure.

The Other People is a little bit mystery, a little bit thriller, and a little bit...other. I really enjoyed the previous book I read by CJ Tudor, but felt like it was missing something. This story, I really enjoyed. It kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat, especially the first 2/3 of the book. 

My main complaint is actually my most favorite quality. The other aspect of this book was a little too paranormal to be be considered magical realism, but not plausible enough or fleshed out enough for me to really love it. 

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I thought the writing was good and compelling. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. There are things I wish would have been more fleshed out and developed, but I recommend this if you are a fan of the author's previous books.

I liked this! Different than anything I've read recently. Dark (which I like) with a supernatural twist (which I also liked). 

Gabe is a secret keeping not-so-happily married man with a young daughter. On his way home one night he sees a little girl in the car in front of him - a little girl that looks strangely like his daughter. It couldn't be, right? That is an image that will haunt him for years as he fights to find the truth which is buried in his very own secrets. 

This book is a quite different take on revenge with a small reminder that when you're in the heat of the moment, you don't always think about consequences or who may all end up affected by the actions you take. 

I listened to the audiobook, and enjoyed the narrators. This one just didn't stick with me after like some books have. Could be that I've just read a number of really excellent books lately so my scale is skewed. Either way, I would recommend this! C.J. Tudor is a solid author who doesn't disappoint!
