The Power of the Dog
Reviews

This is close to but not law enforcement porn. It is very easy to read. It’s like an action movie. Not quite an intellectual elevation but very satisfying.

Violent. Complicated. Twists and turns. One of those books that brings you so close to the characters, you don’t want to know what happens to them. A span of some years, as the power of the dog - that gripping obsession - wages war within and without. People die, terribly, casually. And corruption finds its way into the most pure of hearts. Excellent.

One of the best books I've read in a very long time. Think The Given Day by Dennis Lehane, just waaaaay more violent and gritty. And frank way better.

Brutal and disturbing. It's always a war. on drugs, on terrorism, on communism. It's also very, very difficult to tell the good guys from the bad.
