I found myself as apathetic about this book as Howells' wrote his characters. He makes them hard to empathize with because of their apathy and highly judgmental natures. On top of that the narrative is vague, hazy and pointless. I have nothing positive to say about this book and really cannot recommend it. I barely have enough to say about it to meet the 50 word minimum requirement for a review to count.

Tolerable as far as required reading goes, good essay material.
