While this one was fast-paced, but it sadly couldn’t keep my attention like some of Lucinda’s other books have. I don’t know if the I foarion was just going straight over my head, or if the back and forth was throwing me off. But I lacked the same level of investment with this book like I have with Lucinda’s more popular/well-known books. I don’t know if that’s a sign for my future, but there a big part of me that doesn’t believe that and will just say this one is in me and am hoping for the best in the next book I pick up.

No entendí cuál era el punto de la historia, o sea, el final nada que ver dejarlo así

right from the beginning i was definitely intrigued by the plot and very interested to get to the bottom of what happened but i feel like it started to fall off heavily in the middle. i found the writing mediocre and the characters frustrating. the big twist did get me though, i wont lie lol. i feel like we spent a lot of time leading up to "reveals" and not a lot of time fleshing them out, ESPECIALLY the ending. overall, a pretty middle of the road thriller for me!

There are so many twist and turns but I loved each of them. This is a good book, i couldn‘t stop reading and had to know the whole story. It‘s about sisterhood, crime, mental health and so much more.

** spoiler alert ** I enjoyed the beginning of this book and thought that it would be similar to other thriller books I have read (meaning that the killer is not so obvious). However, I was disappointed in the books ending because it was who I suspected all along and I was really craving for a plot twist or even just a better explanation of the events that happened. Like one thing I’m still confused about is why Nichole thought that her husband was an imposter? I just thought some aspects of the book could have been better explained.

if lucinda berry would just wrap her stories up better she’d be unstoppable

Quite underwhelming really.

Four stars A brief synopsis: Krystal and Nichole grow up together in a foster home and after a tragedy hits both of them are effected for life. Krystal is better at hiding the pain, but Nichole is beginning to crack. One day during one of her court cases Krystal receives a call that Nichole is in the psychiatric ward of the nearest hospital for attempting to burn her husband alive. Nichole claims he’s a murderer, but Krystal can never be too sure My review: I loved this book, which comes as no surprise because Lucinda Berry is one of my favorite authors. While reading the book I was sure there would be no way for it to end in an unpredictable way, but then she threw in yet another twist and I loved the ending. I honestly didn’t see it coming at all. I would love to learn more about Nicholes original home life because it was hinted at but never completely disclosed

4/5 Surprisingly not my favorite by Lucinda Berry, but still better than most other authors. (yeah, I'm biased!) Maybe because I've honestly read 7 of Berry's books this year it makes it super easy to rank them in order for me, and this one is FANTASTIC, it's just not at Saving Noah and The Perfect Child level for me. But I hold L.B. in a completely different realm than most other authors, so a 4 star for her still beats 98% of anything else I've read! This story follows a set of foster sisters, who are closer than many actual sisters, from a traumatic childhood into their perfect adult lives, until demons from their past awaken. It's a tangle of relationships and blurred lines between right and wrong. It's how well do you truly know the person you're closest to and what would you do to protect them?
