The Seventh Plague is Rollins' 12th Sigma Force novel, and if you don't know what you are getting by now, what series are you reading? Each book takes a historical event and blends it with modern science to create some sort of catastrophe that will destroy the world unless our intrepid heroes figure how stop the bad guys and erase the existence of an ancient death bringer. Seriously. That is the plot of every book and I love them! Sure, they are often incredibly silly and based on rather inane scientific extrapolations, but it's like reading an old school Bond film. It's for fun and adventure, not logic and character development. The Seventh Plague starts with an archaeologist stumbling out of the desert, bringing an ancient plague back with him. He had been trying to prove that the tale of Moses and the plagues of Egypt actually happened, and, as Sigma Force quickly finds out, it is likely that his theory was correct. Now it is up to Grey, Seichan, and Kolawski to find a cure based on the historical writings of David Livingstone. But wait! There's more! Up in the Arctic, a billionaire investor is trying to figure out how to stop global warming using some of Telsa's theories about energy production. How does this relate back to the plagues of Egypt? Painter Crowe has to travel to the frozen north in order to find out and stop our evil villain before he destroys the world while trying to save it! There you go. Lots of crackpot science and historical theories used to create an exciting plot where nothing in the world actually changes. As long as you know that's what you are getting, it's fun! Sure, the characters are pretty cardboard, but it's the thrills, and perhaps more importantly the mysteries that draw you in. In the Sigma Force world, there's still so much unknown about our past and future, and Rollins likes to cultivate a sense of wonder about the strange things that might be lying under our noses. I miss that in a lot of modern media, so I welcome old school adventure stories dressed up with modern technology. Woo!

Love how the science and history are intertwined with the adventure. One of my favorite authors and series. Absolutely loved it!!
