The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Trauma, Madness, and Recovery
Reviews

Just an absolutely engaging non-fiction accounting of historical case studies in neuroscience.

I loved this book! I did not know how I would feel about it after reading "Patient H.M." However, Kean does a much better job talking about the brain and the countless unique cases along the way than the other author whose name I have forgotten at the moment. Kean divides the book into separate chapters which each deal with a different aspect of the brain. His chapters have parallel structures which helps the reader sort the information and draw on previously discussed subjects. He also does a great job at avoiding topics which might make readers unnecessarily squeamish or overwhelm them academically without dumbing down the text. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.
