That was excellent. Totally drew me in. I loved all of the lore, and each new aspect just added to it. I especially liked when Maniye realised she wasn't the centre of everyone's world. You got a real sense of her growing up, and coming into her power. I loved the way the stories wove together and things made sense. It never dragged for me. Really glad I took a chance on this, and I'll be reading the rest.

I had to pixk this book up two times, the first time I got 20 pages in and just couldn't do it. The second time however, I flew through it. I absolutely loved ans can't wait until I get the second one.

First of all I have to say that I went into this book with no expectations, on the sense that I picked it up because, yes, I liked the cover and because the name of the author sounded Russian (he’s British actually) and I had been wanting to read something by Russian authors , but more recent I guess - oh boy, how was I wrong!
However, thankfully the book ended being a great surprise!
I was intrigued by the world the story is told the moment I started to read, because it’s indeed one of my favourite kind of worlds! Everything that mixes animals and people being animals I’m hooked up! Is it much to ask for me to also have the same powers? Ahaha 
Although I have to be honest, it started of great with the introducing of the world and all the characters (than in good old way of fantasy books they all end up meeting), but it ended up becoming sloooow so slow that I eventually quit reading for a period of time, there was only running and too much running and nothing of significance actually happened, with minor and predicting details that eventually became rather important.Thankfully, I made myself keep on reading! i had stopped when we finally get to understand more of how Broken Axe really is (he might be my soft spot) and that caught my attention again! 
The pace eventually picked up and, even though I would’ve liked to know more about the Tiger and how they work, it became interesting and I got hooked once again.

Final battle both the real one and the “spiritual” one were epic and really well written!

Overall the book was really good and engaging and it has a diverse bunch of character with very different personalities, with an exceptional well written world! 
I’m not more intrigued to understand how each tribe works and for example why did the wolf and the tiger became such enemies

Southern Today Gone Tomorrow

Adrian Tchaikovsky has written a masterpiece. This book follows Maniye as she becomes an adult and runs away from the only home she has known that has never accepted her. We join Maniye as she goes on an adventure of a lifetime.

This fantasy takes us into a world of shifters, gods, and sacrifice. I absolutely adored this book! Now, I did predict a bit of the ending. But, this is a story that is truly about the trip and not the destination. With a variety of characters, all of whom have actual depth, there is likely a character here for everyone.

Now, some of the characters are very two-dimensional, but that is intentional.

The daughter of a Wolf and a Tiger, both powerful, this book also reflects on the variety of animals in nature and the variety of cultures that can co-exist at the same time without ever truly interacting. It shows, so clearly, how humanity is self-centered and all that comes with that.
