I listened to this book as an audiobook and I am not very good with audiobooks, it is hard for me to stay focused. Yet in these days of Corona it is impossible to sit down at a park and read a book therefore I am trying to walk and listen to a book. 
It was beautifully narrated, I loved the voice of the narrator it actually made me escape this crazy world and the empty streets of Brussels to 80’s Australia.

This was an emotive and sometimes shocking read. It’s the real-life tale of Sandra Pankhurst: her hard-knock upbringing, coming out as trans, living as a sex worker, and her uncountable personal tragedies. Sandra now runs a business doing industrial cleaning after deaths and in hoarder/squalor situations, and in this book the stories from her past are peppered with client interactions from the present day. This book is a fantastic study on human connection, struggle, autonomy and chiefly, compassion.

I really revelled the experience of reading this book but the more I think about it the more I didn’t like it. Mainly because Sandra is a just such an unreliable person.

This book is a hauntingly honest story that touches on so many tough issues. It discusses loss, family, sex reassignment, rape, the difficulties of being transgender in the 70s and the strength that one woman can show to rise above it all and create the life for herself she deserves. The writing is vivid and unavoidably creates an image in your head. I found myself laughing and crying a long with the story as it unfolded. Glad I decided to take a listen.
