How is all this going to work out?? 

I guess I’m going to have to read Book 3. 

Jace and Ski (is it Skee or Sky? I kept going back and forth.) Shelly Laurenston stories always manage to make me laugh but also provides action/adventure and of course love, of the steamy variety. 

Book 2 picks right up after 1 and you learn about Jace and her back story and how she became a Crow and the Protector who loves her. 

I love all the mythology that is being woven into the stories. This is a great immerse yourself in another world type book. Yes, there is a lot of story but just enjoy.

Jace didn't have a major role in the first book, she was just that weird quiet character who had insane strength when she went into her rages and was a berserker for the Crows. She read a lot and that's about all I knew so it was a great to learn so much about her. I still have questions about her family, but she definitely became a favourite. I've got a lot of lvoe for a woman who would rather read than spend time with people and doesn't have time for small talk and general chit chat, she would actually rather jump from a moving vehicle than be forced to put up with inane small talk.

And then there's Ski. I knew I was going to like Ski as soon as I met him. Dude is chill and know what he wants, and in this case it was a chance to spend time with Jace as she intrigued him and having her translate some books was the perfect chance to do that. And obviously the forced time together meant they each got to know each other.

Look, their romance was cute... but I will say it was nowhere near as strong a romance plot as the first book. Kera and Big were the bomb and there wasn't as much chemistry between these two. Maybe that's becuse their romance was a quieter one than the last book, but it meant I wasn't as excited about it. It didn't help we were halfway through the book before the romance started happening properly. 

I will say the plot from the first book (no spoilers) really started to get going with this one and I so loved seeing more of the Clans band together to stop a big bad. Sure, there's arguing and fighting but I really liked getting to see a bit more of the various Clans. I think it's why Iw as so excited when Ski was going to be the romantic interest and we got to see more of the Protectors. And let me tell you the Protectors are my people. These big guys who loved books and had questionable social skills at times were brilliant, I loved Bear especially. He was a total sweetheart. 

Anyway, this book was another enjoyable read and I'm excited to see where book number 3 is gonna go but I will say this wasn't quite as strong when it came to romance but was way stronger when it came to the main plot. Let's see what Book 3 has to bring.

Unfortunately, I didn't love it as much as the first book. I really liked that Jace was an introverted main character and what that meant since I am also an introvert. However, I think in a way I became detached from the characters and the story because her and Ski were such analytical and detached characters. I didn't really vibe with their romance, and although the plot for the book was quite good I was disappointed in some of the author's choices in regards to the ending. I will continue on, but since I'm binge reading the series I feel like the more I read the less interested in the series I am. That is most likely because the story isn't doing anything new with each book. It's the same scattered multi-perspective, the same annoyingly flawed characters, and the same romance formula with predictable fantasy plots. I hope the next book will change my mind because I do like the series. I would say to someone who is considering reading it to pace yourself between books to get more of an impact from each.
