Horrible after the chapters with Ayala by herself. I didn't know this would be filled with all the graphic sexual content. I skipped the chapters with the male character. I did not get to 100% complete for the book. I will not finish the series, not my type of book.

3.5 stars. Some of the survivalist and toolmaking explanations were a little drawn out for me and there was a lot of explicit sex scenes at the end which felt OTT - one or two would have been more than sufficient for the plot. It was largely an enjoyable read though.

The heroine and hero spend most of the book embroiled in classic romance miscommunication, while also occasionally propelling homo sapiens sapiens toward glory. SHE TAMES A CAVE LION FOR GOD'S SAKE. I have no idea how this book followed the first.
