The Wild

K. Webster2017
I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn't cope with our reality. The plan was to make a new life that didn't include heartache. No people. No technology. No interference. Just us. A chance to piece together what was broken. But the wilderness is untamed and harsh. Brutal and unforgiving. It doesn't give a damn about your feelings. Tragedy lives there too. No escaping the truths that won't let you go. All you can do is survive where love, no matter how beastly, is the only thing you can truly count on. Confusing. Wrong. Twisted. Beautiful. Sick. Love is wild. And we're going to set it free. WARNING: The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable or maybe even offend you. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you. Seriously, you've been warned. Don't say I didn't try. You're probably going to cringe many, many, many times. Even if you're on the fence, it's probably not a good idea to proceed. However, if you're intrigued and fearless and kind of sort of trust me, then carry on. This book is for you.

** spoiler alert ** Dear Readers, Today i decided to say fuck all and read this book. Apparently it's been causing waves and hey if there's any book i love to read it's a book that's causing waves. That being said K.Webster puts up a warning in the book saying it's extremely taboo and most people will find it uncomfortable, stay away if you can't handle it, yada yada yada and then she concludes by saying "However if you are intrigued and fearless and kind of sort of trust me, then carry on. This book is for you". Like i say i always call bullshit on this kind of warnings, you can't write what basically amounts to really questionable, probably criminal stuff and think because you put some BS warning about being fearless and trust me, maybe we're all going to agree with you and not call you out when we don't. YOU DON'T GET A FREE PASS!! How do you look at someone you raised as a daughter and want to have sex with them? Like right off the bat the descriptions were so fucking weird. This is Devon describing her dad "he's sweaty and smells a little rank from all the hard work in the late May afternoon sun but i inhale him and memorize his scent" I'm like okayyyyyy "It's fucking cold and she'll freeze without my body heat. She struggles against my hold. When she turns towards me and slaps the shit out me. I lose it. I grab her by the throat and pin her down" No seriously really??? And holy shit the mum wasn't even cold in the grave before the sparks started flying.. I mean at what point do you look at your daughter and go "damn that's some nice piece of ass, i should tap that". To make matters worse the plot gets even more ridiculous, somehow Reed manages to build a gaddamn functioning cabin in like a couple of months, ALONE. It's got a porch for chrissakes "Dad didn't cut any corners. The porch is a lovely touch and our table and chairs are perfect. The roof had given him hell but he made it work. It's pitched with logs but he used metal from the RV to fashion a roof that should remain leak free. The extra pieces of metal, he lined the inside of our cabin for insulation against the cold. [...] The cabin is spacious. There's a bedroom, a living room and a small kitchen area" he even made a fancy door... "he guides me up the steps onto the porch. He pushes open the fancy door he made" I mean i know the book says he's a real estate developer but building all that in months (does being a real estate developer mean you can build houses? i'm not totally sure).. Also i'm sure some people might like to say his tools survived the crash (again super convinient) but i'm pretty sure it takes more than hammers and nails to build what was just described. Also it's like K.Webster can't decide if the RV is totalled or it's still somewhat salvagable ..."I'm still in the RV. Everything is mangled and crumpled and broken" again "The RV is torn to shreds" at some other point he tells Devon to go back to the RV. Like make up your mind is the RV destroyed beyond all help or is it salvagable? ugh!! Then, up until the accident you're only told they're moving with an RV after the accident it's an RV and a trailer.. very convinient. The godawful marriage proposal where he fucking gives her, her mother's wedding ring and says her mom would have wanted her to have it "Then i take her hand and hold up her mother's wedding band 'She would have wanted you to have this one day, i know it. I know it..' YEAH REED SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE WANTED YOUR DAUGHTER TO HAVE IT BUT DEFINITELY NOT TO MARRY YOU WITH IT!!!! The level of depravity (yes i said it) in this book is just crazy cos you find out Devon is actually a child of incest and Reed also engages in incestous acts with her.. Yes i know K.Webster tries to get off on the technicality that Devon is adopted but Alaska Age Of Consent Law: (a) An offender commits the crime of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree if (1) being 17 years of age or older, the offender engages in sexual penetration with a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years of age and at least four years younger than the offender, or aids, induces, causes or encourages a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years of age and at least four years younger than the offender to engage in sexual penetration with another person; (2) being 16 years of age or older, the offender engages in sexual intercourse with a person who is under 13 years of age or aids, induces, causes, or encourages a person under 13 years of age to engage in sexual intercourse with another person; (3) being 18 years of age or older, the offender engages in sexual intercourse with a person who is under 18 years of age, and the offender is the victim's natural parent, stepparent, adopted parent, or legal guardian; (4) being 16 years of age or older, the offender aids, induces, causes, or encourages a person who is under 16 years of age to engage in conduct described in AS 11.41.455 (a)(2) - (6); (5) being 18 years of age or older, the offender engages in sexual intercourse with a person who is under 16 years of age, and (A) the victim at the time of the offense is residing in the same household as the offender and the offender has authority over the victim; or (B) the offender occupies a position of authority in relation to the victim. (6) being 18 years of age or older, the offender engages in sexual penetration with a person who is 16 or 17 years of age and at least three years younger than the offender, and the offender occupies a position of authority in relation to the victim; or (7) being under 16 years of age, the offender engages in sexual penetration with a person who is under 13 years of age and at least three years younger than the offender. (b) Sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree is a class B felony. i'm pretty open to reading about different sexual fantasies but i draw the line on criminal sexual acts. There's really nothing cute about that in my opinion no matter how you try to dress it up. This is a straight up criminal act. Don't let a guy with no shirt on the cover and some fancy trigger warning bullshit fool you into thinking otherwise

There are books that introduce themes so beyond your limits, you can do nothing else but drop them. There are books that test your limits and you psyche. Then there’re books that push against your limits, bang, hard, until they smash whatever limits you thought you had to pieces. The Wild is one of those books. I was very skeptical when I started reading this book. A friend had to talk me into reading it. Don’t get me wrong, I love taboo stories. But after hearing what this book was about, I told myself: Nope, no way am I reading this. Even though I am a fan of K. Webster’s work and I’ve read and enjoyed most of her Taboo Threat books. But, as I said, I was talked into reading it, so here we are.

This book was a bit er for me. The taboo didn't bother me, I just felt the storyline was a bit weird and the "twist" was a bit too neat and tidy. I felt it was a bit silly rather than shocking.

I read the taboo book! I guessed the big twist in this one pretty early on, and I feel as though that definitely helped fuel my enjoyment of this one versus discomfort at the themes (and it’s not my first foray into taboo of this nature)—but overall this book was fascinating to read as more of a study of taboo romance in general, reactions to it, and the different ways it’s characterized. My biggest issue was that the big twist was intentionally kept a secret for so long to keep the taboo-ness of the story going for as long as possible. I never felt like Reed was the one actually keeping the secret, and the reasoning behind doing so felt flimsy. It always felt like the twist was forced to be a secret by the author, which pulled me out of the story a bit. There’s also a huge suspension of disbelief required in this one when it comes to surviving in the wilderness and recovery from life threatening injuries. Again, it all felt forced to make the story as taboo and peculiar as possible. Overall though, I enjoyed it (it’s absolutely not for everyone, and that’s okay) and am looking forward to reading Eve and Atticus’s book next!

this book absolutely blew me away. i read it in one sitting and i think my heart rate was spiked the entire time. i knew it was a very taboo / forbidden romance going into it, but i really didn’t know much else about it (i don’t really have any triggers / content issues, so i don’t mind going in blind if the author suggests it), but it turned out to be so much more than that. this was a survivalist story, two people who end up in the wild with almost nothing but each other. they had to face the elements and deal with all kinds of unexpected dangers and obstacles. now, this book is very taboo and it is definitely not for everyone. on top of that, there are other dark moments within the story. as i mentioned, i don’t really have triggers or tropes i won’t read, so i wanted to read something outside of my normal comfort zone. i’m so glad i did, it was absolutely worth it for me, but i would advise proceeding with caution.

** spoiler alert ** This book was… interesting. THIS REVIEW IS MY OPINION ONLY. Taboo aside (I knew what I was getting myself into, the rating has nothing to do with the taboo), this story had some issues in my opinion. First. WHY DID THE DUMB ASS FATHER PARK THE RV ON A POTENTIALLY UNSTABLE CLIFF? That pissed me off. Don’t act all big and manly and angry at your daughter when you do that dumb shit. Second. You allowed your daughter to remove the impaled body of your wife, her mother, from the tree… bro. What. Why. Third. What did Eve bring to the story? Really? She just seemed like a sort of… afterthought. Fourth. Why didn’t they ever just try to… go home? Fifth. The inbred rapists. WHY??? This was so unnecessary it is unbelievable. I could barely get through it. It felt like another, really fucked up afterthought. Finally, how did he just… casually build a whole ass cabin? There’s absolutely no way. Some of the aspects of the story just didn’t make sense. Spice was good though.

Not even mad about the 'incest' because honestly, I've read worse. But what's really awful is the fact that (view spoiler)[the supposed 'hero' actually physically abuses the heroine (until she fucking throws up!!) and rapes her. That makes this book NOT a romance. (hide spoiler)]

I'm going to die. Right here. Right now. On the floor of the forest with a dick deep inside me.

"I hate you!" I scream but Ive stopped fighting. I fall to my shoulder with my ass up in the air. "I fucking love you!" he roars, his hips slamming hard against my backside. "You can't ever leave me! Ever!"

"Okay, Dad," she smarts off. It makes me want to stick my cock in her mouth. "You know the rules," I growl. "Soon I'll get to call you Daddy all the time in here," she teases, her eyebrow arched.

"Isn't that what couples do? Fight and then make up?" I ask. He lifts his gaze and smiles. "I suppose so. The makeup sex was pretty damn hot, I'll admit." It was angry and animalistic. Brutal and fierce. I came so hard I saw stars.

"I want to have this baby with you," he chokes out. "So bad. But so help me if you die, Ill shove my .45 into my mouth and take my life. I can't do this without you, baby. I can't fucking do this."

Photo of Madhu Mandal

"I want your big cock inside of me. I like the way you stretch me and fill me with you. It feels good. It feels like I'm whole. Fuck me. Fuck me. Fuuuuuck---" She doesn't get to finish her words because I slam into her so hard she screams at the top of her lungs. Her hands struggle beneath my grip but I hold her still as I fuck her like she wants.Nothing soft or gentle about this. I'm an animal. She fucking provoked the beast.

"Fuck me, Reed," she orders, her tone bossy as hell. I snap my eyes open and glare at her. "Don't say words like that. Your mouth is too pretty to let dirty things like that come out of it." She licks her pink lips and taunts me more. "You could always put something in it to shut me up."

"Tell me to stop, baby. My head is all fucked up right now because I missed you so goddamned much." My hot breath against her sensitive flesh makes her shudder. "I want to do things no father should ever do with his daughter."
