Cerita kaum ksatria dan penyihir yang harus jadi satu melawan penyihir hitam. Ini tentang Wish dan Xar, para pejuang. Fantasinya kental!

It kept me reading, I couldn’t stop, I read in one seat, I really like it

Hyvä päätös tälle tarinalle. Ja kivaa et oli vihjauksia hahmojen tulevista vaiheista. Tosin en usko, että niistä enää lähdetään tässä muodossa kirjoittamaan.

Cute, fun, read by David Tenant.

Such a sweet read! A hilarious coming of age adventure of magic, wonder and imagination!! An amazing start to an exciting new series!

3.5⭐

I quite enjoyed this for what it was, but because I'm so far removed from the target audience, I can't say that I loooooooooved it. However, I see the merit in what this book was doing, so four stars it is! This book had the perfect balance of silly and serious. There was a part that had me laughing out loud, and that's usually a tall order for me. I enjoyed the characters, who were all very fleshed out, except for Xar. It seems like he has a bit more maturing to do in future books before I actually like him as a person. But I don't think you're supposed to like him yet, so it's all okay. I do wish the magic system was explained a bit more. For a book that centers heavily on magic and conflict between magic-users and non-magic-users, I still have no idea how it actually works. Overall I did enjoy this quite a bit, due in no small part to David Tennant's (yes, that David Tennant) fantastic narration. I definitely wouldn't like this book as much if I had just read it with my eyeballs, so good on you, David! I may continue on with this series someday, but it doesn't feel like much of a priority at the moment.

I really enjoyed this read. I listen to this book as a audiobook and found it to be super fun read. I really loved the story and loved how the characters progressed through the novel. I really loved the two main characters and also how it was a mix between a adventure and magic story. I really loved the narrater of the audiobook and hope to read the sequel soon!

This is a wonderful, magical story. Xar is a Wizard with no magic. He decides that if he kills a witch, he can steal her magic. But, witches are extinct. Wish is a Warrior. Warriors hate magic and destroy anything magical that enters their woods. Their paths collide for a magical adventure. I loved this. I went back and forth between physical and audio, and both are fantastic. The physical copy has great illustrations. The audiobook is even better. David Tennant is amazing! It was so much fun to listen to because of the narrator, and also hearing the wind whipping, and the explosions. It was great. I will definitely continue on with the series.

3/5 stars I have very mixed feelings on this book. One one side I enjoyed the overall plot of the story and I really enjoyed having the illustrations in the book. I also enjoyed the setting. The downside is I really didn't connect with any of the characters, I mean I just really didn't like them and often found myself annoyed. It was an overall okay read.", nothing much stood out to me.

Sixth book for Believathon!!! I adored this book. The only reason I gave it four stars was because for the first 150 pages I was bored. Also I didn't like Xar until more than half way through the book. But the second half was amazing!!!! I love Wish!!!! I definitely recommend the audio book. I had to switch to the audio book and it was really good!

The story and the concept was quite good but I did not like the characters at all. Both Xar and Wish were quite annoying and drove me nuts....

2018 - The audiobook is really nice. The story itself... an ok middle grade book. The characters are a bit annoying, they learn some life lessons, mess up, learn to be friends... wonder what the next book is going to be like, can't say much, the story is so obviously unfinished.

4.5 stars. I immensely enjoyed this book, and since I greatly love Cressida's writing style, I can highly recommend it!

I have found childrens/middle grade books to be very hit and miss with me. But I actually really enjoyed this one. It was quite good fun and set up the world well for a new series which I believe this one is. The main characters are well rounded with flaws and the supporting characters are fun too. Some of the characters feel a little pantomime-like but I think that is to do with the age it is aimed at. I did like the son/father relationship between Xar and his dad, that was very sweet and very different to the one between Wish and her mum. Overall a good series which I might look at continuing.
