I really liked this story, was it as good as part 1? No but something I’m starting to realize about this writer is her style. Everything was very similar to Viola & Travis story. Regardless it is a very good read.

This was the perfect way to end Drew and Courtney's story. I loved the romance, suspense, and of course having all the secondary characters. I don't want to say too much because it will give the story away. Just know that Kennedy Fox does an amazing job and always delivers an epic, funny, steamy read, and I can't wait to read more :)

Well, after that ending in Checkmate: This is Reckless, I was dying to see what would happen. And guys… the incredible Kennedy Fox did it again!! This writing duo is so talented. I just can’t get enough of their books!! Effortless picks up right where Reckless ended. Remember that this book must be read after Reckless. (And it’s preferred that it’s also read after This is War and This is Love, though it’s not required. But they’re awesome, so I totally recommend it!)

Drew and Courtney are still struggling through the Mia drama. (That chick is seriously CRAZY!!) Every time they turn the corner, there she is, wreaking havoc. But all this did was really make me love Drew and Courtney even more. I didn’t think I’d be able to love the Deputy more than I did in Reckless… but here I am, totally in love with him to a whole new degree. It may have taken Drew a while to come around… but now that his heart is with Courtney, it’s ALWAYS in the right place.

I can totally see myself being BFF’s with Courtney. (Right, Becca?!) She’s so much like my type of friend, I feel as though she already is. She’s spunky and fun and doesn’t put up with any crap… but she’s also real and does get scared when things get scary. She doesn’t have the whole tough-guy persona, which I really appreciate. Sometimes fear is appropriate… and Courtney’s perspective on it was even-steven to mine.

These two and their chemistry is still one of my faves! I’m always a fan of friends-to-lovers romances, but this one is really top-notch. I adore their banter, love and respect for one another. Drewtney for the win!!

Another fantastic book by my new favorite writing duo. If you haven’t started the Checkmate series yet, I strongly suggest that you do. Start with Checkmate: This is War, and have the others lined up waiting because you’ll want to binge the entire series straight through. Looking forward to more awesomeness from KF very soon!

Checkmate: This is Effortless was a highly anticipated read of mine ever since I read that god-awful cliffhanger from This is Reckless. I needed to see how Drew and Courtney would deal with the bitch drama that is Mia. While I didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as I did Drewtney’s first book because of all the hectic, filler drama, I was still glad to have read this and finally get to see how Drewtney ended up. If you were a fan of the Checkmate Duet series, you will most likely love Drew and Courtney’s conclusion!

Mia has gone off her rails and is determined to ruin what Courtney and Drew have. This woman is CRAZY, thinking she and Drew still belong together. But Drewtney is as strong as ever, despite Mia’s antics to scare Courtney off. Courtney does get scared, but Drew, mister Deputy, is working hard to make her feel as safe as possible. Drew is as sweet as ever – I really enjoyed how he was trying to handle Mia all the while making sure Courtney knew how much he loved her. Courtney is relatable with her fears and struggles with Mia, although I did get frustrated at how she relied on Drew a little too much.

The main reason why I didn’t love this book was because of how the drama with Mia seemed to drag on forever. I felt like Drew and Courtney could have dealt with Mia so much sooner than they did, which would have cut down the book length. And when Drewtney weren’t worried about Mia, they were having sex. I love a good steamy scene, but all the sex seemed to hinder the story progression.

Still, the ending of the book was definitely my favorite part. I was happy to see how Drewtney’s relationship concluded, and I’m excited for more in the series! I love the girl group that is Viola, Courtney, and Kayla and can’t wait for the dog-lover of the group to get a book with her uniformed man!

So it took me forever to finish this book because I was in a huge reading slump.

Before I continue with this review, you need to be aware that This Is Effortlessis book two and picks up where book one, This Is Reckless left off. That said, there was one heck of a cliffhanger so you need to read book one first.

I swear, every time I read this author, I AM WOW’ED. To the point that I have NO IDEA what to say in a review. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever managed to finish a review on one of Kennedy Fox’s books because all I have is “OMG! OMFG! OMG! OMG! OMGGGG! OMG!” at the end! She leaves me speechless.

 “You want to have a family with me?
He nods his head and returns his lips to mine. 
“The truth is I couldn’t imagine a family without you.” 

In my opinion, this book was not as good as the first book. I was a bit annoyed with how cliche some parts were and the way Drew called her sweetheart in every sentence, BUT I was still surprised by how much I ended up liking the story in the end.

There were many twists and valuable lessons featured in this book, that really make the story stand out. And despite a tad bit of predictability, it was by far an enjoyable read. Did it completely blow my mind and render me speechless? *shrugs* …Not really. But it was definitely a page turner, and a story that I couldn’t bring myself to put down. I definitely want to say a big “thank you” to Kennedy Fox for writing a story that kept a big goofy smile on my face throughout every page.
