An excellent book about those that have given their lives for the sake of Jesus in the Middle East. The book is a quick read, but really packs a punch. There are 6 stories (if I remember correctly) that each showcase different individuals or groups in different Muslim ruled countries. In some cases the story is a testimony of how they came to Christ and what happened afterward. Other stories pick up in the middle of a specific event that is significant in the life of a believer. All the stories are heart-warming in their devotion to Jesus, but chilling in their telling of human atrocities. With that said I would add that the stories are not overly graphic or morbid, but matter of factly chilling as you hear of fathers and husbands killing their family members in the name of Islam. 

The book is not a book about hatred toward Arabs, or Jews, or Muslims, or any group. It is a book that showcases the love of Jesus and the transforming power that it has in the lives of those in the most lost of situations. I was deeply touched by the lives represented in the book, and I love that Doyle concludes with some very practical ways in which Christians in the west can partner and help our brothers and sisters in the faith.

I highly recommend.

One side note that I hesitate to mention, because it's only about the audio book. The narrator of the audio book Tom Parks is quite the veteran narrator, but he reads very much like a Children's book narrator in this reading. It may be that the producer wanted the book to have a bit of a lighter mood, but I found it a little too light for my taste. I believe the gravity of the topics of the book would have been better presented with a voice that was less light-hearted. He's an excellent reader, just not the right fit for this book in my opinion.
